Hecate 08-03-2007, 15:32 I remember reading about this work a few months ago, and how knitting and crochet were perfect for representing hyperbolic space - not that I understand the maths behind it though. More information here: Knitting and crocheting complex surfaces (http://www.sciencenews.org/articles/20061223/bob10.asp) Examples of the work (http://www.math.cornell.edu/~dtaimina/crochetinghypplane.htm). Is this a suggestion for a future knitalong ? :D Hecate 08-03-2007, 19:22 Is this a suggestion for a future knitalong ? :D Yes, but a prerequisite is that you've got to explain the geometry of the piece you choose to do :hihi: . JillM 08-03-2007, 19:27 Yes, but a prerequisite is that you've got to explain the geometry of the piece you choose to do :hihi: . lol - in that case I may prefer the socks! beansforyou 09-03-2007, 01:07 I crocheted a hyperbole (if that is the correct term) a while back, I was impressed by how much yarn you could use in such a small space  I then promptly forgot to count a bit and it went all wrong. I do find it fascinating though :) |
