View Full Version : Fridays Champions League Draw scottishdude 07-03-2007, 21:56 Ah Dear looks like Arsenal won't be in Fridays draw and they aren't playing this weekend either. Arsen did say they had too many games to play so they can have a rest now and look at their empty trophy cabinet.:hihi: carcrash 07-03-2007, 22:38 So they have gone out of the FA cup, League Cup, Champions league and the prem isn't looking too good. great stuff LFCMadPaul 07-03-2007, 23:07 So they have gone out of the FA cup, League Cup, Champions league and the prem isn't looking too good. great stuff yeah, doesnt look like their wins against us were worth that much does it :hihi: All that praise they got but then look.......... we are third still, and in next round of CL. Well done Arsenal ..... like Raffa said...... we are not here to win the CC, we will go for the big one again ..... and after knocking out the holders, and probably the best team, nobody can rule us out. happyhippy 07-03-2007, 23:09 I'm sorry and all that, but if you're successful, don't you have to win matches to be that? All this 'we play too many matches' lark is ridiculous. Half the top flight wouldn't mind Arsenal's reserve side, let alone Man U, or Chelsea's. "Too many matches" is when you're hoping/desperate for a Cup run to generate income, while facing relegation from Div 1 down. You can't throw the Cup because your club will fold, but you only have 19 pro players and every one has to throw their heart into it. For the ultra-rich clubs to try to justify creating a cartel, almost, is obscene. The problem is, we've all said it for a couple of decades, but nobody listens ........ For the ultra-rich clubs to try to justify creating a cartel, almost, is obscene. The problem is, we've all said it for a couple of decades, but nobody listens ........ Think about it .... if you play less games .... your players are stronger, fitter etc. Why do you think the top teams always play weakened sides in cup games. Im not saying its right, but if you play your strongest side on a sunday in the FA cup, then play your strongest side in the Champs League on a Tuesday, .... the strongest side will be knackered by the end. carcrash 08-03-2007, 00:37 I think the big teams would be happier if all the cup games were decided with a toss of a coin straight after the draw. It's funny how important the FA cup becomes when teams get knocked out of Europe. I'm not a Liverpool fan or a Man U fan but I am looking forward to them meeting at some point in the CL. Me too ...... they surely cannot be as lucky against us again !! Guderian 08-03-2007, 09:24 Me too ...... they surely cannot be as lucky against us again !! Over two "legs" this season we beat you 3-0. We absolutely battered you at Old Trafford. Dont forget that. scottishdude 08-03-2007, 09:24 I hope Chelsea keep hold of Alex next season and not let PSV sign him permanently. Could have done with him when Terry started his injury problems. Still rue Gallas & Chelsea not sorting out their problems last season. He's not an Arsenal player and never will be. scottishdude 08-03-2007, 09:30 Over two "legs" this season we beat you 3-0. We absolutely battered you at Old Trafford. Dont forget that. No sympathy for Celtic then? That was deffinately a penalty last night which would have probably meant Celtic going through. They were good enough to give you a run for your money. Nice to see an ex Celtic player giving you a great leaving pesent. Guderian 08-03-2007, 09:34 No sympathy for Celtic then? That was deffinately a penalty last night which would have probably meant Celtic going through. They were good enough to give you a run for your money. Nice to see an ex Celtic player giving you a great leaving pesent. Wanted Celtic to go through, for two reasons: Wanted to go to Celtic Park again Would rather play them than Ac Milan!! LFCMadPaul 08-03-2007, 09:59 Over two "legs" this season we beat you 3-0. We absolutely battered you at Old Trafford. Dont forget that. As we battered u at Anfield ....... Bring it on LFCMadPaul 08-03-2007, 10:00 I hope Chelsea keep hold of Alex next season and not let PSV sign him permanently. Could have done with him when Terry started his injury problems. Still rue Gallas & Chelsea not sorting out their problems last season. He's not an Arsenal player and never will be. So .... who does he play for then ???? ANGELUS 08-03-2007, 10:03 As we battered u at Anfield ....... Bring it on ... And you lost - AGAIN! Everytime you play us - you lose. So if it comes to the crunch and its us versus your lot in the CL final.. I think its coming home to Old Trafford myself. LFCMadPaul 08-03-2007, 10:08 ... And you lost - AGAIN! Everytime you play us - you lose. So if it comes to the crunch and its us versus your lot in the CL final.. I think its coming home to Old Trafford myself. Home to old Trafford ???????????? I think, having won it 5 times, it is already, home. That is why we were allowed to keep it !! You can hardly claim OT is its home, same as you cannot claim that OT is the home of the leaugue title, because with us winning it 18 times, i think you will find that Anfield is its rightfull place also !!! ANGELUS 08-03-2007, 10:10 Home to old Trafford ???????????? I think, having won it 5 times, it is already, home. That is why we were allowed to keep it !! You can hardly claim OT is its home, same as you cannot claim that OT is the home of the leaugue title, because with us winning it 18 times, i think you will find that Anfield is its rightfull place also !!! Meaning, the cup is coming home from Spain to England - back to the wind and the rain in good old Manchester :D LFCMadPaul 08-03-2007, 10:13 Meaning, the cup is coming home from Spain to England - back to the wind and the rain in good old Manchester :D I like your u turn ;) Why would it wonna go to the wind and rain in Manchester, when it can have a place (thats still warm) in Liverpools already bulging trophy room  Guderian 08-03-2007, 11:21 As we battered u at Anfield ....... Bring it on But you lost at Anfield. Thats the difference. Greenback 08-03-2007, 17:48 I hope Chelsea keep hold of Alex next season and not let PSV sign him permanently. Could have done with him when Terry started his injury problems. Still rue Gallas & Chelsea not sorting out their problems last season. He's not an Arsenal player and never will be. Alex can't get a work permit to play over here at the moment. It will be interesting to see what happens should Chelsea draw PSV in the next round - will Alex play? Will UEFA allow him to play? merseyman 08-03-2007, 18:27 What are the odds on Chelsea v Man U tomorrow? UEFA are going to want to get rid of at least one English team , and I don't think Liverpool will get either of the other two as we have just knocked Barca out:hihi: . But you never know. scottishdude 08-03-2007, 22:59 So .... who does he play for then ???? What I meant was , He hasn't performed as well at Arsenal as he did at Chelsea. Bit like Owen leaving Liverpool for Real Madrid. Sorry I forgot you were one of those who needs to be told what hand is on what number when you ask what time is it. ;) happyhippy 09-03-2007, 00:16 Think about it .... if you play less games .... your players are stronger, fitter etc. Why do you think the top teams always play weakened sides in cup games. And if you're richer, you have a squad to cope with the extra matches. Most sides who play weakened sides (as the Blades have done in the last couple of years or so) do so to bring through young players. I think we're singing from the same hymn sheet here, but different verses ....... happyhippy 09-03-2007, 00:21 No sympathy for Celtic then? Nice to see an ex Celtic player giving you a great leaving pesent. There were two good calls for a penalty in my eyes :( , and one was stonewall. Tremendous performance from the Bhoys, trying to out-Italian the Italians, but it was all to no avail. Larsson will ALWAYS be God(TM), wherever he is; he gave us hope in the dim, dim, dark days. I'm sure his heart is green and white more than yellow and blue now. A fitting way to end his winter busman's holiday ;) Guderian 09-03-2007, 00:24 There were two good calls for a penalty in my eyes :( , and one was stonewall. But having seen him live a few times for United this season, I have to admit I now call him Teflon Man. scottishdude 09-03-2007, 00:30 And if you're richer, you have a squad to cope with the extra matches. So on that basis Chelsea should walk over Spurs on Sunday as they have had 2 more days to rest and and no long flight. Somehow I don't think so. Good luck against us at Murrayfield BTW, don't think we will let you repeat the Italians. ;) happyhippy 09-03-2007, 00:32 I know he is 36. I know he was a very good player. I know what you mean; some glances were 'too' slight, even in younger years :( , but his distribution near the box is still second to none. happyhippy 09-03-2007, 00:49 So on that basis Chelsea should walk over Spurs on Sunday as they have had 2 more days to rest and and no long flight. And if we get a start like the Italians did ;) ....... it's bad enough having to support England v France ........anyway, I'll lift a whisky, a whiskey, a heavy and a Guinness to yer on Saturday! |
