Hi all My daughter age 12 came home from school and told me she had not been well all day, she had headache and felt sick. I gave her some tablets and she had her tea seemed ok. then at 6 told me her headache was really bad and felt sick again. asked her where the headache was she told me the back of the head way down past her neck. she looked pale so I rang the NHS DIRECT and they told me a nurse would ring before 12. I am sat here a little worried my daughter has gone to bed due to her feeling ill.

Does she have a temperature and/or rash?

If you are anything like me, I always worry about meningitis when any of my family have symptoms like this.

Can she put her chin to her chest? Is there any rash? Is she listless and unresponsive? Is she complaining about the light being too bright?

I'm sure she's ok. There is a bug going round at the moment and it sounds like this

No lights dont hurt her eyes, no temp. now in bed asleep. see how she is in the morning. thanks all

Don't panic, hun. Keep checking for fever and the other symptoms, and call NHS Direct again if you're worried...but I can let you know now that my husband was home from work sick today with exactly the same symptoms. After some rest and painkillers, he's feeling much better.

Another symptom to look for is cold extremeties - hands and feet, one of the first apparently.
I hope she's ok though and I hope you feel able to relax, it can be such a tough time when you're worried like that.

Hope she is ok hun, i dont have to imagine the worry u go thru wen lookin for meningitis signs, if u feel this is not normal take her straight to the hospital.

Dont even wait for the rash, that was the last thing that i got, headaches n groin pain been the 1st! it took till the next morning to see a slight rash but by then my muscles started collapsing and i couldnt move outta bed.

hope she is well, and keep us forummers updated. hopefully it will be the virus/cold thats goin around, its struck a few of my mates. :)

Hi all my daughter is still the same Dr told me she had a virus. just give her pain killers. she just keeps saying "I just dont feel well" she has not moved since we went to the drs. if she still same friday then I think the dr can vist her. Getting me down I am not used to her so quite and looks really white. anyhow ty for caring xxxxxxxxx misty
