Rant begins

Ok....as the same as lots of people on here, i was with Telewest and now i'm with Virgin Media apparently.... no choice as usual!

Anyway you'd think as a new company trying to make a good impression and keep their customers from Telewest they would have made sure the Telewest customers would benifit from the takeover by giving them their Virgin service/offers.

Hmmmm  been on thir website tonight to see what their offering and like Telewest have bundles: 2 for £20, 3 for £30 and 4 £40. Had a look at what they offer and to my surprise its much better than Telewests packages.
I'm currently paying £30 for 3 services (phone, TV and 2MB broadband) but that was a Telewest offer.
Now i'm with Virgin :suspect: i should be getting alot more on their 3 for £30 package, their offering over 83 channels (i'm currently only basic and get around 35 channels) and free firewall, email on their broadband (never got any of this on Telewest) and the phones the same.

So i rang them......firstly it takes 20 minutes to get through only to be put through to the worng section who can't help and say theirs a 20 minute wait for customer services....

I asked why i hadn't been transfered to the Virgin service and she said 'oohhh i don't think you'll get that, that's for new customers'!! what, well she shouldn't have said that to me!!

I'm a new customer, i didnt ask to be with Virgin media so they should at least honour us Telewest customers who had no choice in this and at least, give us what they offer?! SURELY?!

Anyway, i'm ****** off as usual with the crap customer care of these companies and wondered if any 'Telewest' customers have solved this problem and managed to get a Virgin package etc etc....

Oh and if that's not enough we've lost Sky 1.....i was watching Lost.. and Sky News...

Rant over...

We went to SKY when virgin took over , we have the tv package for £15 a month and the phone and internet with virgin for 20 a month including unlimited calls. We were not prepared to lose SKY ONE and since we don't owe them anything we shifted, Happy so far except SKY have their call centres in india.

Virgin media are the way forward - sky have pulled sky 1, sky sports news and sky news in a type of throwing their toy out the pram style.

I expect it will be resolved soon as a governing body is getting involved - its sky who are out of order trying to charge the earth for non premium channels.

Anyway I'm an existing telewest customer and for £36 we've just negotiated the following deal:-
unlimited 2meg broadband
unlimited phone calls (except mobiles)
and the 'large' tv channel package.

I think its a very good deal

How long did it take you to get through on the phone to them. I was on the phone 45 minutes tonight and did not speak to anybody. I have been with telewest for about 6 years now payin top wack for all services and trying to get through on the phone to them before I set up a deal with sky and cannot get through, do they want customers to stay with them or not

OK, i'm much calmer!! :)

right, finally got through after a 40 minutes wait and after causing a stink ive managed to get them to match my telewest package to thier Virgin package!

I threatened to leave or rejoin!? and they said they would match it....

I asked why this wasn't done when they transferred and they basically said 'unless you notice a better package we won't come to you!' ha ha! the cheeky buggers, so unless you know your stuff and compare the packages you don't get a better deal....

I'm happy now....im actaully getting what i'm paying for!!! (So simple yet so complicated)

There crafty buggers and you have to fight to get everything these days!!

I advice all Telewest customers to do the same as it's a much better package

xx

Go on the Virgin media website and find the package that matches your's price wise, (tell them whats better about the virgin package than yours currently) tell them you want this etc etc and they will match it and transfer you....they have to basically once you ask for it....

Their is no telewest and virgin customers anymore Telewest are no more in the sheffield area, you and i and many more in sheffield are now virgin customers and as for the deal's you are an existing virgin customer (as virgin bought telewest out) so you cannot benifit from the NEW customer offers. And weather you like it or not there is nothing you can do, unless you want to switch to SKY which is a bag of s@?t.

Oh and i got a good deal when i told them i was going to leave, they gave me more channels, free wireless router and 4mb broadband for £5 less a month then i'm paying.

Oh, i also asked if i could have a new box seeing as mine says Telewest broadband on it (petty i know but it's a principle thing :D ) and they said it would stay the same as all the boxes were the same....

"so if i joined today you'd come out and supply me with a box that says 'telewest broadband' on it"??!
"Well, no, but at the moment there are no plans to change the boxes".....:suspect:

hmmmm, i'm either with Virgin or i'm not?!

Sky had all this planned..they knew they were not going to let Virgin keep those channels, which could be why posters suggesting you switch to them went up within hours of the deal falling thru.

It's a great marketing ploy.

I shall only miss Lost, but I won't be pressured into changing just because of a programme!

Virgin have said they will waiver the 12 month contract for customers wishing to make the swap...which is nice...

Akita, stop ranting, and read what's been posted above. Go to Virgin Media's website, find the package that matches yours in price, ring them and tell them that, unless they transfer you to that package, you will cancel Virgin Media and either get Sky or rejoin Virgin in order to benefit from the new customer package.

See, there is something you can do about it!!!!

Only for this month, though.

I'm still on the old Telewest package, so me thinks i need to make a phone call :suspect: , I guess it dos'nt hurt to try.

Has anybody else noticed that all the Pay-per-view movies on Virgin Media are all cropped instead of being in widescreen.
Really annoys me as i'm an avid movie watcher, and feel like i'd be much better off Buying/Renting my films instead.

Yes me too.

Don't bother with the regular customer line, just dial 150 and choose option 3 - the one for disconnections. Tell it like you mean to switch to Sky and you'll find a cheap deal is available :hihi:

Speaking as a person who has worked in a busy call centre previously, if there is a long wait the the people taking the calls are getting hammered with calls and are having to work very hard indeed, if you come on the phone and shout and ball like a child you are less likely to get what you want than if you are resonable and treat the person on the other end how you would like to be treated if you were under as much stress as they are.

Being nasty gets you no-where, call centre staff deserve to be treated with as much respect as any other office employee.

To those of you who have shouted at someone in a call centre to get you're own way, you should be bloody well ashamed of yourselves for treating someone who has done nothing more than try to help you like that.

All offers available to existing customers. You just have to ask and then will have to enter into a new 12 months fixed term contract for the products you have chosen.

My dad rang up after he found out I was getting channels he wasn't, for the same price he was paying and they upgraded his package with the missing channels :D He's narked about losing Sky cos they watch 24 but I wasn't arsed about it and didn't get it for that so not in the least bit fussed I haven't got it. I have to say they screwed up transferring my BT phone number so that's taken over a week, and I spent a total of about 3 hours on the phone listening to Katie Melua's first album before I got it sorted. That was annoying

However, my Interactive red button doesn't appear to work on the Virgin box. I get the little box at the foot of the screen saying "Please wait, just loading", then this goes off and the TV is patently in interactive mode as I can't just change channels or anything, yet I don't get any other info, ie as you do on Freeview or as my dad does on his; a list of options down the right side of the screen. Anyone else had this problem or know what the remedy is? I can see the screen change but that's all, and if I press BACK it goes back to the pre-interactive screen
