View Full Version : There really are no clocks in Meadowhall
Deepak_S7 06-03-2007, 21:57 hi
This is weird
I was lucky :) enough to spend the day in Meadowhall today
I felt hungry and wondered what the time was
I dont have a watch
There were no clocks in the corridors/malls
There are no clocks in the shops
The shop staff are unhelpful when you ask them the time
Does time stand still in meadowhall - it feels like it
Or is there a cunning plan so you lose track of the real time and spend even more of your life and your money in there?
Very annoying which ever is the answer
Deepak
Don_Kiddick 06-03-2007, 21:58 I always check my mobile phone for the time as i don't wear a watch either.
firesmudge 06-03-2007, 22:02 Aha the great Meadowhall time warp tis a jump to the left then a jump to the right..............
Plain Talker 06-03-2007, 22:24 There *IS* a clock on the main mall, near Marks and Sparks:- it's a HUGE one, behind the information desk.

Clocktower is now known as the lounge. Somehow in the rebranding, the menus got mixed up and the prices got exchanged with a real restaurant :)
(I'm not sure if theres still a clock there ;))
I never need to check the clocks in Meadowhell, as soon as my feet start aching I know i've been there an hour and it's time to go.... something about the flooring in that place, it's the only place where my feet start to ache no matter what footwear i'm wearing :loopy:

They just think it's un-PC to show 2 fingers to their customers :hihi:
we fell foul of the lack of clocks just before Xmas, we dropped the kid's at my dad's on a sunday and arranged to be back for dinner at two. Needless to say we were just under an hour late, and in the badbooks with the owd folk's.
You rarely get clocks in shops though, because shops do not want the customer reminded of how long they are spending there.
When my feet and wallet start to ache and creak, it's time to go. So, that'll be half an hour at most!

That's funny, I've noticed the same thing...I thought it was just me!
does anyone remeber the big clock that was above tv in oasis, think it was warner brothers?!
kittenta 07-03-2007, 09:30 Is the time of sale when you buy something still printed on the receipts? I used to use the receipts when I was out and about as a teen. Great excuse when you get home late 'sorry mom, thought it was only this time, look receipt says so' :D
You can tell when it's lunch time, everywhere you can purchase anything to eat is completely packed.
Can't remember where I heard it, might have been in uni, but they don't put clocks in shopping malls on purpose so you loose track of time and spend more.

I think thats casinos in vegas.

Same reasons/idea though....
1. Why not go in to a jewellers - there are plenty of watches there.
2. Go in to Currys and view teletext on a television
3. Look at a receipt
4. Buy a £6 watch from the statues
5. Ask a fellow shopper
6. Look at your mobile phone
7. Go outside and look at the position of the sun

What, you go shopping when it's sunny!

I don't know. I don't go shopping thinking "I must stop shopping at 2:30 pm" I stop when I've got what I went for, might take an hour, might take 15 minutes.

I think there must be something strange with the flooring because i'm the same, whether ive got trainers, flip flops or heels on, after an hour my feet are throbbing:huh:
