The above link has some pictures of what they're planning!

Would have been better (in my opinion) to try to save the warehouse and do that up like they did Cornish Place, but I guess that wouldn't have yielded enough apartments.

Looks hideous. If it's a well designed as Sheff One we're in trouble...

a multi storey horse park! lol Lol lol!

My late brother in law lived in the tenements, many, many years ago.

I think the building is really nice, and would look great with a bit of a re-furbishment. i was under the impression that the buildings had been refurbished, already, about 10./15 years ago? (well, the upper storeys that housed the dwellings, at least).

However, I never knew it was called "Castle House":- the only Castle House I knew, that existed in the city centre, is the Castle House that houses the Co-op, on Angel Street.

Good idea to develop the site though I don't think that it will be very pleasant to live there. The outlook will be pretty grim and there's a Formula 1 race going on most of the day under right your window.

OTOH if the windpws were triple glazed with the inner pane a plasma screen showing different views of the Peak district or spectacular coastal scenes...why has nobody developed these yet ?

I've often wondered about the appeal of living in town, looking across the Don to the back of the Castle Market is not my idea of a nice view.

I'm glad they are keeping most of the original building, as I really like it.

They should build some apartments on top of the Wicker arches, where the station used to be, that would look quite cool and revive the area a bit.

I think the castle markets days are numbered! In a few years tenants of the new tower could have a view of the old castle ruins! Which would be nice? But more likely is a view of even more apartments.

Wouldn't a view oif the ruins be a view of a big hole in the ground ?
Still, better than the markets :0)
