View Full Version : Patons Aran Braid
Can anyone help me? I am sure that on Saturday I was reading a blog where someone had made or was making a pattern called Aran Braid by Patons. As per usual I can't see it now and wondered if anyone had either heard of this pattern or had seen the blog that I can't find now?
I've done a search on Paton's Aran Braid but nothing came up. Thanks for your help ladies.
Lucy-Lastic 05-03-2007, 22:25 What sort of article did it make Turra - Ive tried aran braid and celtic braid and come up with alsorts. was it definitely Patons?
....Oh yep just thought could you look in your history to see where you visited on Saturday?
I can find links to Celtic Braid and Aran Braid socks, and to a Celtic Braid stitch pattern (which is rather like one of the sections of Rogue), but I can't find a pattern by Patons, or a similar pattern leaflet or booklet by another manufacturer. I'll keep hunting though.
It was a sweater. I'm almost certain it was Patons because I remember thinking I could probably get that locally. Hecate I use IE7. Where will I find my history? It used to be on thehome page but now I cant find a button to tell me. Hopeless aren't I? Thanks for your help :)
Just gone into my favourites and there is the history button. Bad news is that it is only for 2 days so I've got Monday and Tuesday :(
Lucy-Lastic 06-03-2007, 10:24 Is it this one - its knitted in Patons classic merino (sadly not available here) (http://sogalitno.typepad.com/photos/wips/img_1913.html) - I think that the whole project might be found here (http://www.interweave.com/knit/TSC/Pdfs/Welcome_Back.pdf)!
Thanks Lis but that's not the one. I'm kicking myself now because I've been right through my list of blogs and looked in their archives but cant find it. That will teach me not to bookmark it eh?
Thanks for your time though all of you. :)

Have you sorted out the IE History problem, because I completely forgot to investigate it this morning?
EDIT: Just spotted that you've found the history button. I really should re-read the posts before replying  .

The Celtic Braid band is gorgeous. If I were to make the jumper though, I'd have to make it a wee bit longer.
Just noticed it's a free pattern too. Bookmarked and downloaded
EDIT: And added to the recommended links thread :) .
Lucy-Lastic 06-03-2007, 20:29 Yup I too would make the arms a bit longer and the body would definitely need to be a little longer to cover my mummy tummy:hihi: Its the same Saxon braid as used in Samus (and used the same way) but its fitted which I think would be lovely:D
Ooh that is nice. I wonder if I've got the name wrong because I don't remember the picture, which I think was of a white or light coloured sweater, was even cabled I don't think. That's why I was looking for the pattern again so that I could investigate it more closely. Oh I'm so annoyed with myself :(
Lucy-Lastic 07-03-2007, 10:23 Is it one from here (http://www.patonsyarns.com/patternbook.php?PBS=500989%20)?
YES, YES, YES
*dances around the computer chair nearly falling down the stairs*
Thanks Lisa the pattern is Urban Aran. Have added the page to my favourites now and can look later on.
I love you

Why thanks  Urban aran is lovely - its a cardi though isnt it ....I saw it yesterday here (http://www.streetsandyos.com/) but decided it couldnt have been that?
 Glad to have got that sorted. I really like Urban Aran. According to the blog though, it's a jumper that's been turned into a cardi by the knitter. I prefer it as the cardi too - I'm not a huge fan of big jumpers.
Thanks again ladies, I like it better as a cardigan but it's not the Patons that is available in this country. More trawling on the net I'm afraid. I'd like to see the pattern before I splurge on the yarn though.
