i have never been taken on a date. perhaps this is my own fault for having always been fairly straightforward (ok, aggressive) in obtaining partners, but at least i've always got the ones i wanted rather than wait around for something that might not have happened otherwise.

i don't think romance is dead, though, it just doesn't do a lot for me. mr babychickens is very good at buying flowers, mind, although i don't really think of that as romantic - more as damage limitation.

I'd love an old fashioned romance! :P :D It'll be hard to find, but who says I'm looking! :wink:

No, it appears to be very much alive. We still go on dates, and each month we take turns to set up a surprise for the other. Not bad after 7 years eh!

It's strange, I started a similar thread last autumn and there seemed to be no hope, now there seems to be a spark of romance at least (or a great big lightening strike in foxy's case).
Do you think it's a seasonal thing?

Romance appears to be more difficult rather than dead I think. There seems more focus on the commercialism these days (e.g. buying flowers/a gift), instead of doing something original.

cravings for carrots are the direct result of TOO MUCH bunniness.

My trouble is I never see anyone I fancy, I like older men - they have to be buoyant (pinched that word off a man describing the women he was attracted to) and I suppose he meant lively, I used to be attracted to your average bloke, and posh men reminded me of my brother too much. Now completely the opposite after hearing and meeting someone who was an older version of Daniel Craig, but it was a fleeting moment in a pub and havn't seen him since , I am destined to fancy one man in a thousand it seems.

Well this is the second thing I've had explained to me in a matter of seconds.

Obviously my ex must be of the romantic sort because after 2 1/2 years together he was in no rush to take the relationship further than the stage it was at.

well thanks for that, so it seems iam not the odd one out ,because i believe whether your together 1 month,1 year or 19 years in my case,it still nice to be romantic with your partner. its the little things you do that count.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
Get yer knickers off.

Romance is alive and well and living in.... well, not in my house at any rate.
