Marco @Milano's in Millhouses is good. Never had a bad meal there and only slightly expensive, not stupidly. Got named in the top 10 italian restaurants in the country (I believe it was in the Daily Telegraph).

If I remember rightly there is a really nice posh restaurant at Chapeltown I think it's called Greenheads or something like that. I understand that it is so popular that people have to book months in advance. The other place is The Old Vicarage at Richmond.

its not Sheffield but we took my mother in law for her 60th birthday to Yang Sing restaurant in Manchester's china town - the food was amazing and the staff are really polite and attentive. They are about to get a Michelin star as well.
We had a taylor made banquet - before every couse the waiter came and asked what we were liked or didnt like.

i have been back a few times and the service is always amazing.

Baldwins Omega does nice food I agree. I like Sette Colli in hillsborough. Nice food, only a small restaurant though but really nice and great service and not too expensive.

Greenhead House - Only open Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat evenings. Fantastic but you have to book ages in advance though IMO it is worth it.

Hassop Hall - Fabulous atmosphere a real destination restaurant.

Marco@Milano - Always very good nice place for a party.

Marco@ Milanos excellent
Baslow hall the tops - Michelin star
Buckinghams - dont rate them at all
Rowleys of Baslow - spin off fromBaslow Hall - cheaper good quality food but not the finesse of Baslow hall
Greenhead House - not been for ages but still hear good reports
'Catch' & the other part - formerly Smiths then Thyme also very good
Soho (Soyo formerly Mao) London Road excellent food at very reasonable prices, but not as 'special' if you want to push the boat out.

There is a nice resteraunt just off of division street near Fopp records. I think it's called San Marinos. I've heard it's good service.

I seem to spend half my posts recommending Boho on Campo Lane, but it really is excellent.

Mrs Fozzybronze went there again on Saturday and was blown away once more at their attention to detail and the quality of the food and service.

Greenhead House has an excellent reputation and was, until recently a regular in Egon Ronays good food guide. The Old Vicarage gets a mention in the latest edition

I would love to try the Old Vicarage at Ridgeway. It always seems to get good reviews and is not too far away from the city centre.

Have they changed the management at Le Bistro at Wentworth? Had a disastrous meal the last time we went. The Raspberry Creme Brulee was nothing like, when we asked the waitress she said it was 'Because it said so on the box' That was after the rest of the meal being of a poor standard.
Old Vicerage has excellent food, but I do not like the 'ambiance' nor the sycophantic service of Mrs Bramley. Go to Fischers at Baslow Hall and get the real class.

Buckinghams - dont rate them at all.

why?

Have you been there?

did you have a bad experience?

I have been twice for myself and a few other times celebrating other peoples b/days etc and everytime I've been, the food has been the best I've ever eaten, the service the best as you're the only diners there, and the surroundings very relaxing...?

What is it about them you dont rate?

Have been twice, though not in the last year.
I thought that although the food was fine, it certainly was not worth the price we paid. Over fussy, overflavoured - clashes in flavourings, too much self importance from Mr B. Still think Fischers is the best around.

Couldn't agree more, pricey but oozing sophistication. If you really want to splash out, stay the night as well.
