This is a post on behalf of a friend. He has had a problem with his washing machine where the other day the power went off but did not hear any bang. He checked the plug and socket face plate and both on the outside were burnt and the fuse had blown. He has since put in a new fuse, new plug and new front socket plate. He doesn't know if the plug was pushed in properly or not but I assume it must have been because the plug socket is behind the washer and he very rarely takes it out. There is no wet or damp to be seen. Just wondering if it will be safe to use now or not, now everything is put back all is OK. Would it be best to have a circuit breaker in to the plug as well? Thanks in advance.:help:

I would guess that it is the socket where the problem lies but please, please don't take my word for it, without seeing it who can tell, get it checked out without delay. Sorry I can't be more help, but you must get it checked. If it was only a problem with the washer then 9 times out of 10 only the fuse in the plug would blow it is unlikly that if as you say the socket to blow up. Water may have been running down the back of the washer, it may be worth checking so that if that is the case that it dosn't happen agin.
