I have a mobile phone that must be four years old now, - can't remember what make it is but it has "Trium" on the front. It really is a bit too heavy for the pocket so I'm looking for suggestions for a cheap replacement pay-as-you-go phone I can transfer the simm card to.

I don't use it much - it's really only so I can be contacted in an emergency. When the credit on it was down to ~£2.00 six months ago I put £10.00 on it and there's still £11.00 plus credit available. There doesn't seem to be any minimum usage on my BT contract so obviously I want to keep the simm card.

Trouble is, - all the shops want to sell me some exotic phone with cameras and colour screens etc. and all I want is a cheap, lightweight, basic phone with a twenty number memory. - not bothered about text messaging as I've never used it.

Perhaps I should be looking for a second hand one - but where to buy with confidence ?

u don’t have to go for second hand ones at all. There are plenty of simple, neat and good feature mobile deals where you get a new mobile phone with a good deal for under 20 GBP (http://www.fones.com/mobile-phones/). I stumbled on one such site fones.com where I found a full updated list of such deals. i am sure you can find many such too.

pop into netto every now and then, they normaly have some decent looking little phones on sale for around £10 - £20, with just a colour screen and that's about it, sometimes they have a vga or 1.3mp camera on them and with a mp3 play but at £10 - £20 you can't really say i dint want one with a camera.

we get netto leaflets through with the gazzet so we see the phones they sell and they look decent and a well known brand name.

I had a Nokia 3310 for years,never went wrong,very basic,took some abuse on the building sites and still kept going!!

the problem usually is with PAYG they all locked to the new sim.
Tesco do them for £30, Vodafone Crystal Peaks have some used ones in cheap.
