Im thinking of doing a small kind of festival, just one day, with a line up of local bands, beers etc and just wondered if anyone had gone down this route or had any tips or thts on ways to progress.

This is really at the "thought in my head" stage so any comments gratefully received:thumbsup:

You will need stage, a PA sytem, a sound engineer, security , crowd control.............and a load of other stuff.

Indoor or outdoor.

I may me able to help you with this but you will need deep pockets at first.

Got the basics, just need to know where I can get a stage, can get hold of a PA system, security and crowd control can easily be sorted. It would be an outdoor event upinwath.

I know your right about the deep pockets as well, hopefully get some sponsorship (ideally)

you will need insurance obviously as well, and licenses for alcohol. some kind of security and make sure under 18s arent allowed in seeing as there is alcohol involved. remember to look at your marketing cos that is one of the most important areas of an event which alot of people dont spend enough time / money on. hope this helped

My old band played 'Hallam Jam' which was organised by the students at Hallam Uni. Get in touch with them and ask advice, i'm sure they'd be happy to help.

All I can say is good luck and if you have any hair, you won't come the day of the event. I did our first ever festival last august in Middlewood and it was insane.

If you do decide to go ahead with this I would love to help out...I've wanted to do something like this.

Also, I know 3 top bands who I'm sure would play for nothing, just for the chance to get some extra exposure.
