View Full Version : Top Rank suite Staff
Did anybody work at the rank during the eighties?
I was there from '79 until '86 and had some really good times (not counting grab a granny hell nights)
I'm still in touch with the likes of Margaret O'Hanrahan and others.

Hi Pete,
Of course I remember you. Along with David Bennet, Alf Melia (who sadly died a number of years ago) Ian Chiltern etc.
Do you remember Gena Clegg and her daughter? and Cliff?
Myname is Chris Campbell and I worked behind the bars and as bar cellarman whilst Tony Hughes and Mal were in charge of the bars.
Had a beard at the time,I think it was fairly fashionable then. Not likely though. I was usually on bar one and worse forwear by the end of the night.
I miss the buzz. Old age eh?

I'm working on a project about Sheffield clubs of the past and am short of pictures of these places

Sorry, sadly no pictures at all. Any pictures we took were on nights out and totally away from the rank. Wouldn,t mind seeing any pictures you do get though. If you're kind enough tomput them on the forum.
never worked @ the rank but used to go on sataday mornings in or around the mid 60's.
I was still in my nappies in the 60's Trekker. Used to go Sat' mornings in about '72 onward. Remember always being hussled by gangs on the stairs. Bit dodgy at times.
Hi crimble, yes i remember you, you worked on bar one i seem to remember !
Yes it was a shame about Alf, i heard it was a brain haemmorage that killed him, such a decent guy, a real shame.
I dont know which of Ginas daughters you knew, but it was probably Julie,
after a long relationship we got married three years ago.
I have no idea what happened to Cliffe, do you know anything ?

No idea about Cliffe.
Give my regards to Julie and Gina.
I ended up marrying little Michele Clarke twenty years ago now. Don't know if you remember her though?
Mary Crossland passed on as well, or so I heard.
Have you heard from John Booth since?
To be honest i havn`t heard from anyone since i left, although i did see Gordon Kenny at meadowhall a few years ago, he still looks the same, and i did see Raz Mohammed a couple of times, he is ok, still a nice guy.
Sorry to hear about Mary, She worked in the cloak room didn`t she ?
Did you know about Mike Powell ? I heard a rumor he turned out gay ( i dont know if that is true)and i also heard he died a while back, i`d like to know the truth Belated congratulations to you and Michele ! if my ageing memory is correct Michele was a slight girl. very quiet, with pretty, doll like, features ?
I seem to remember Dave Bennet was enamoured of her (but she blew him out) Perhaps we ought to meet up for a little chat one night ?
MIDNIGHT 10-03-2007, 16:53 sunday night improvision anybody?
Hi Pete,
Sorry for the delay in replying.
I haven't seen Gordon for donkeys. Did you get to speak to him?
Mary did work in the cloakroom to start with then progressed to front door reception.
Mike Powell did pass away a number of years ago now and I also heard the same rumour but how true that was I don't know.
We'll have to get together at some convenient time, get ****** and talk about times agone.
Give our regards to Julie and Gina if you see her. Tell her that Margerat O'Hanrahan is still going strong, albeit only just.
Speak to you later
Chris
