I like the scarf too, and the knitted bracelet. The Rainy Day socks are rather pretty, though they remind me more of little girls' socks than socks meant for adults. They look a little like the socks my mum used to buy for me for Whitsuntide when I was about 6 or 7 :) .

I wonder if the patterns which might previously have been submitted to Magknits are now being submitted to Yarn Forward? Not sure how the submission procedure works, but aren't the two run/edited by the same team?

Yes they are. I suppose the best ones will be cherry picked to go in Yarn Forward as that would obviously generate more profit than Magknits.

I know if I were going to submit a design I would rather submit to Yarn Forward and actually have it in print rather than Magknits though so maybe that has something to do with it?
