Guderian 02-03-2007, 01:08 AM Game on you set of ....
Going to wrestle the points from your grasp.
Having such a big game on Tuesday, Liverpool might be expected to rest some players, but seeing as its us, they wont, they couldnt bear us to strengthen our title credentials at their manor.
Predictions?
Agent Gypo 02-03-2007, 03:53 AM Hmmmm..... the lesser of two evils.............
Normally I wouldn't give a hoot about this, but hopefully Liverpool will win, if only to dent Man Utd's title push. If they win this, the Premiership is probably over.
seriessix 02-03-2007, 04:54 AM LFC for me.
Who's going?
TheJudderman 02-03-2007, 10:59 AM The winner on the day will be Football.
merseyman 02-03-2007, 02:49 PM I think we will beat you tomorrow Guderian , the thought crossed my mind that Rafa might rest 1 or 2 tomorrow , but surely he knows how big a game this is. Even if man u lose tomorrow I still can't see chelsea catching them.
Will fergie rest anyone ?

I dont think raffa will pick his team based on Man united's title credentials buddy, do you ?
This game is gonna be madness it really is ..... Liverpool with pride and the crowd pushing them on ....... Man U putting everything into it knowing it will win them the title ....... personally, i cant really pick a winner but maybe with the 12th man behind us we could sneak a win so ill go for a very narrow Liverpool win ..... its gonna be some match though !!
Then, next up we play a really big team which will also be a massive, massive night at Anfield ........ cant wait for both!!
Im gonna be off my rocker from Saturday morning untill late Tuesday night :gag: :hihi:

Could you elaborate mate .....
Do you mean, if Liverpool players are in a good mood we will win but if they are all abit peeved off we wont ?

Na, jus if they decide to play good or not as they go in fits and bursts.
AtticusFinch 02-03-2007, 04:23 PM I think a Liverpool win, although I'd settle for a draw. I'd be sickened if our unbeaten home record in the league this season fell to the mancs. I don't think Rafa will rest players because the fans would be furious. United at home should always be taken extremely seriously, regardless of what the following game is.
Come on you redmen! :D
NEKRO138 02-03-2007, 04:33 PM I reckon Man Utd will win but Liverpool won't care as long as they beat Barca.

yeah i see where your coming from matey but thats away from home.... at Anfield we haven't lost in the prem for 30 games since october 2005 and have only conceded 3 goals at Anfield all season in the prem.

Really? Thought Rooney scored 2 past ya, unless that Everton!
But should be competitive, specially if Neville and Gerrard are both playing.

So? You've only played one big team at home in the league so far this season and you were lucky enough to face them when they were ravaged with injuries and in mid season crisis.
Last time you actually faced a really decent team at Anfield they put 3 past you and played you off the field, of course in your never ending quest to try and use stats to make Liverpool look good you've chosen to ignore cup games.
Ally68 02-03-2007, 05:24 PM Liverpool will win this one. Their home form is impressive and I think they will reverse the score from Old Trafford.

oh here he is ....
Look you always say "back up your opinions" , and i am doing. I knew you would say our record at Anfield was lucky...
Are you saying the other premier league teams we have played their are not decent ?
Chelsea did have injuries yes, but only in defence. There midfield and forwards was the best they could have put out. Still they were played off the park.

Uniteds home record this season is better than yours, in fact it is the best there is, our away record is also better than, yours massively so. In fact Manu are the best there is on pretty much every stastical measure there is going. In terms of style pool are also a distant 3rd or 4th.
Of course you could beat us today, in football such a thing would would be far from unheard of but either way you have to admit united are clearly the better side this season.

no your wrong ... Liverpool have the best defencive record at home.... and have not been beat in the prem for 30 games ..... have not conceded a goal at Anfield for 9 games ......... better record than yours i believe. Wrong again, I said 'Uniteds home record this season is better than yours' which was true even before we beat you today:
Manu P14 W12 D1 L1 F35 A8 GD27 PTS37
Pool P14 W11 D3 L0 F29 A3 GD26 PTS36
Of course if you include today's result in that United's superiority is all the more obvious, the only way in which Liverpool had a better record is in goals conceded in every other respect including the only one which really matters, points won, United were and are superior.
JFKvsNixon 03-03-2007, 04:12 PM The only bright spot for me is:
- the impending three match ban for Scholes,
- potential injury to Rooney,
- Solskjaear beening ruled out for a month,
- loss of form for Saha,
- the last premier league game for Larsson.
So I am not as down hearted as I could have been.

As for Scholes, he could do with the rest.

If you read back, i did say defensive record.
And i wouldn't say that todays result made it all the more obvious matey, as you got outplayed for most of the match, and if second half had of been a boxing match it would have been stopped.
But you will say we were lucky to get away with 1 - 0, so it must be true :hihi:

You are amazing ..... even my mates who support Man U, today said that it was slightly emmbarasing how you claimed three points, although obviously delighted.
We controlled the game in every department, as the stats prove, yet somehow you manage to nick the points !!
However, what a great 3 points and probably the title is now won, but please dont try and claim that you deserved to win today ...... even fergie said you didn't!!!
Guderian 03-03-2007, 10:33 PM Scholes injured?
Thats irrelevant!
He is banned for 3 games after being sent off. Did you actually watch the game.
We didnt deserve the win. But you werent that good. You only really cut us open for the Crouch chance.
We win when playing badly. Thats what title winning sides do.
Until Liverpool get that back (you havent had it for 17/18 years) you wont win the league again.

As stated on MOTD (i didnt watch the game) vidic was meant to be a complete waste that game.
Pool had more than one clear cut chance, any of Riise's efforts could have gone in. Well done to Van der sar, he kept you in it.

I felt for Vidic, he kept getting pulled out to left back vs Bellamy as Evra was sightseeing.
Up against Bellamys pace, he panicked somewhat.
Chelsea have Cech, Utd have Van Der Sar.
Liverpool have Reina.
Enough said.
merseyman 04-03-2007, 02:38 PM There have been a lot of games this season were liverpool have been the better team , but we don't have a 20+ goal scorer . Until we have someone who regularly sticks the ball into the net we are always going to remain 3rd or 4th.

Indeed, Bellamy looked by far their most dangerous player, which is why I was so happy that Benitez took him off in typically negative move replacing him with a mediocre midfielder.

Since Ruud left united haven't really got a 20+ goal striker either, we're still top. Of course unlike pool united are a positive attacking side.
Preacher Man 05-03-2007, 01:43 AM Ally68, i dont suppose you can say everton will beat arsenal next weekend

merseyman 05-03-2007, 11:58 AM I thought thats why you bought Kuyt?
Kuyt scored a lot of goals in holland , but its a lot more difficult here . He works like a trojan but he doesnt have that poachers instinct like fowler used too or a fit owen.

3-0 down at half time, Milan misses a sitter to go 4-0 up; you were lucky he missed. You did not draw at Juve in the semi, you were lucky to win in the semi home match though.

tosh13 05-03-2007, 02:21 PM Great goal by O'Shea & Vandersaar was world class the save from Crouch was brilliant.Rooney's injury was terible what the hell was Carragher playing at.I have seen players sent off for less.

There was nobody between SG and the goal. Yes there were players around, but SG was that close to goal that it could have been deemed to have denied a goalscoring chance. Some refs send a player for it, some dont. All im saying is that it was a great final that you cant just put down to lfc winning as luck ....... there was so much more to it than that

Because throughout this thread you have failed to respond to what I've actually written and seem more intent on flinging rather puny insults at me that actually rebutting my posts.
You indeed did claim that Liverpool had the best home defensive record in the league this season, in response (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=2008839&postcount=25) amongst other things I basically said 'so what our overall home record is better' to which you responded 'no your wrong ... merseyman 05-03-2007, 07:33 PM Every team has it's luck , the number of times we scored in the last minute or had the "rub of the green " during the 70's and 80's are too many to mention. However , it comes down , in the league anyway , who has been the best team over 38 games and of course they all haven't been lucky. But this is what makes following football great , there are always different points of view and feelings of injustice. Just think how boring it is in the closed season.

Like when you said, in your thread about season predictions, that lfc had a brilliant manager, who has kept on filling the gaps in the squad etc. Yet not so long ago, you said that raffa was a manager who consistently blundered in the transfer market, and tinkered more than ranieari, and also that when i said he was good, you said that he was so good he didn't even know his best team and that consistently rotating had cost lfc numerous points
LFCMadPaul 05-03-2007, 11:28 PM Every team has it's luck , the number of times we scored in the last minute or had the "rub of the green " during the 70's and 80's are too many to mention. However , it comes down , in the league anyway , who has been the best team over 38 games and of course they all haven't been lucky. But this is what makes following football great , there are always different points of view and feelings of injustice. Just think how boring it is in the closed season.
i agree, but are you not sick of people keep saying how lucky lfc have been, regarding every trophy we have won recently
Agent Gypo 06-03-2007, 05:18 PM That debate was like Real v Barce.
"El Classico"
Oh yes indeed......
LFCMadPaul 07-03-2007, 12:59 PM If you read my previous posts you will see that I do not agree that you deserved to win. You did win though so well done to you.
And i suppose we didn't deserve to go through last night either hey ;)
BasilRathbon 07-03-2007, 01:14 PM And i suppose we didn't deserve to go through last night either hey ;)
Not really, no. Playing for a 0-0 draw at home is scarcely the mark of a great side.
JFKvsNixon 07-03-2007, 01:20 PM And i suppose we didn't deserve to go through last night either hey ;)
Are you hearing voices in your head, I didn't say anything. But now you come to mention it, you were lucky Ronaldinio hit the post.
scottf 07-03-2007, 01:21 PM Not really, no. Playing for a 0-0 draw at home is scarcely the mark of a great side.
how can you say they played for a 0-0 draw???? if they were playing for a draw (hit post twice, off the line, risse's shot- then i would HATE to see them when they want to score a goal!!)
LFCMadPaul 07-03-2007, 01:22 PM Not really, no. Playing for a 0-0 draw at home is scarcely the mark of a great side.
So your saying we played for a draw ???? Shi_e ... we hammered them first half ...... second was harder but against the best u expect to have to defend.
Here we go .....

And they were lucky we did, twice.
BasilRathbon 07-03-2007, 01:47 PM And they were lucky we did, twice.
Ah but Ronaldinho's was a sublime piece of skill; yours were a couple of hopeful hoofs from 40 yards out.

They have the second best recent home form in Liverpool.
JFKvsNixon 07-03-2007, 02:16 PM The only bright spot for me is:
- the impending three match ban for Scholes,
- potential injury to Rooney,
- Solskjaear beening ruled out for a month,
- loss of form for Saha,
- the last premier league game for Larsson.
So I am not as down hearted as I could have been.
Can I update this :
- the impending three match ban for Scholes,
- Fletcher potentially missing rest of season ,
- Solskjaear beening ruled out for a month,
- loss of form for Saha and potential injury,
- the last premier league game for Larsson.

Still knocked barca out mate .... i think man u would really struggle doing that ... as their recent champ league form suggests over the last few years
Preacher Man 07-03-2007, 02:20 PM liverpool played well but they proved they cant compete in footballing terms against barca! just as the likes of bolton and my beloved everton have to work their asses off to get results against the likes of manu, chelsea and arsenal, liverpool had to fight and defend against barca..

Fletcher is hardly a big loss is he ??
What will u lose by larssons departure ??

Fletcher - hurray!!
Scholes - will be a miss. One game is in the cup, the other two at home.
Solksjaer - not first team
Saha - not sure extent of injury yet, but he HAS to stay fit.
Larsson - hasnt settled at all. Calling for his head at Anfield - just wasnt holding the ball up.

did u c first half ??
Name a team that wouldnt be outplayed at certain parts by barca, they are better than anyone at passing and keeping the ball.
You like many ohers just cannot admit (like rikkard did) that we were the best team and created the best chances, as we were/did against man u

Exactly what I was thinking, now if Man utd, Arsenal and Celtic go through there will 5 British teams in the last 8!
Guderian 07-03-2007, 02:39 PM yeah good point, and tonight, PSV, and Man U hopefully :hihi: :hihi:
Why would you want PSV to go out and not Arsenal?
LFCMadPaul 07-03-2007, 02:41 PM Cos i dont hate Arsenal and would rather a british team go through, except for man u that is

But surely you would rather play PSV than Arsenal?
P.S Arsenal are French.

I actually thought Liverpool where positive in their approach throughout both legs, and deserved to win both games.

This is one of the most amusing online meltdowns I've seen for a while, anyway MadPaul if you calmed down for a moment and stopped making kneejerk paranoid ABU posts you might have noticed that JFKvsNixon isn't a United fan at all which can plainly be seen in this post he made earlier in this thread:

Would a Manu fan hope that a United player would be injured (not that wishing injury on people is something anybody should do)?

no sorry, it wasnt aimed at him in particular .....
Anyway ... u have been quite after my post about your pre-season predictions ..... when you clearly said that Raffa was a top manager who was filling the gaps left by houllier....... yet in our debate later in the season, u claim Raffa is innept in his descisions and doesnt een know his best team along with being totally useless in the transfer market ?????
How do you explain that if you always state the truth, honest opinions, as you constently claim ???

How is this supposed to be a rebuttal of my last post and in any way on topic for the subject under discussion in this thread?
