Hi,
I am not into camcorders, but I would suggest going the rounds of local stockists and get the feel of some and prices. If you find one you fancy and are confident in buying from the internet do some searches and comparisons.
Good Luck.
PS there are plenty of good and reliable UK companies. If you buy from overseas ensure world wide warranty and be aware of returns policies and prices.
Sounds like I am trying to put you off,but I bought both my digital cameras from UK companies with no problems.

i'd recommend this one
JVC GR-D50 from Savastore.com, about £350 i believe.

It's currently on my wish list as the best one at around that price point. I'm basing this on reviews in computer shopper which tends to review them about once every 3 months.
if you want to spend a bit more

JVC Everio (very cool) - about £800.

Hi

I'd avoid JVC if I were you. I had one that lasted about 18 months. Then it came up with an error and wouldn't let me do anything. After doing a web search I discovered this was a common problem related to the "drive", and that JVC have known about the problem for years and not done anything about it. You can get it fixed but the cost was estimated at about £300-400 so not really worth it.
