Hiya Paul52, Yes the original Register office was opposite the central library , and my wife and I were married there in 1964 and still going strong. It is now a pub called the Surrey
I guess you've won !

I remember the old reg office and when it's work went into the new wedding cake which is now also gone into the history book.
I started my life sentence in the cake.
Where will the new registry office be?
For the time being some rooms have been set aside in the Town hall, the entrance is from the Peace gardens side. Don't know if there are plans for a replacement.

It's to be built next to Divorces R Us, somewhere near Meadowhell.
Im almost sure that the old Registrar Office was knocked down unfortunatley. The Surrey Pub was a Masons Hall, if you look at the building you can see the masons insignias around the freeze. The Registrar Office was next door to the Surrey.
