I just bought a computer from ebay and wanted to change the case, so i unplugged all the wires that connects the case with the motherboard (the front panel?) but when i plugged them back in the computer wouldnt turn on :-(

i've done a rough diagram of the panel with not-so-clear labeling on the motherboard and the wires from the case. can anyone help me figure out which wire goes where please? :-(

if its any help, i got a SiS 530 Socket 7 motherboard (i know thats probably not the manufacturer of the motherboard but thats the only name i saw on it) and it says PC100 on the chip.

The Panel:

--------------- HDD ------- PW-
|KB LOCK |----|LED|RST|---|BT |
--------------------------------------
o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o--o
o--o--o--o--x--o--o--o--o--o--o
--------------------------------------

The Wires: (with their colour and number of slots)

POWER SW |Black|White|
POWER LED |Green|x|White|
RESET SW |Blue|White|
HDD LED |Red|White|
TURBO LED |Yellow|White|
SPEAKER |BLACK|x|x|Red|

Thanks!

The only one you actually need to connect to get the PC working is the POWER SW (power switch) - try all combinations where it says PW on the mobo - you'll get it right eventually :) Then you can work the others out at your leisure - they're for the status LED's, reset switch etc. anyway....

The board is almost certainly a PCChips clone type board using a SiS 530 chipset...

So, no manual = some fun and games...

A little search on the PCChips website turns up boards...
- M598
- M598LMR
- M599LMR

And lo and behold here's a manual in pdf format..

That should get you sorted :D
