It's crap.

All they did was cover the pool over and put a bar in, they've kept the cubicles and everything.

Strange, you start off saying its crap then go on to point out good things about the place!!!

BTW I quite like the place - Saturday nights is a lot quieter than the rest of the Hillsboro pubs so you can actually have a conversation without shouting.

It's ok but you're not allowed in if you've got verucas.

I like the place, one of the best bars in hillsborough. More friendly than the rest. Its still got its intact swiming pool etc. because its listed. Should be called the shallow end though as the deep end isn't being used as part of the bar!
Great live music and nice people.

Went there a couple of times, once when it first opened and about a year later. Both times, the staff couldn't have been more unfriendly if they'd tried and it was bloody expensive for bad service and non-descript drinks. We also tried one of their live music nights and left after half an hour. Minging.

I was there! My friend was performing, he did vocals, guitar, and keyboard. His guitar string bust during one of the songs though, which was a bummer!

Good night, I enjoyed it. Shame the prices weren't as 'studenty' as I would like :D

My son was also on stage.
He had to do some 60s stuff- not his usual stuff but he did ok .
he then did a quo number later on - with his mate.

I did - good it was (mostly).

We played there last night and it was packed. If you're into live music this place is great.

But the admission prices deter the casual punter so you just get mates/parents of the band going to the gigs in the back room.

It's a shame because the building is a really good music venue - better than most round Camden for example - and in a good location right on the tramstop. Get some fancy foreign lagers in, a couple of local cask ales, nice coffee, more seats in the bar area, rethink the colour scheme and we'd be well away.

Went here years ago to a Dionysus night, was a bit empty, shame as the organisers put loads of effort, was people on stilts and pleanty of jugglers and loud music. Had a great night, doesn't sound like those types of night are on from the previous posts any more, but liked the venue.

Me and some mates went to the Deep End yesterday for the open mic night and had a really good night - I thoroughly recommend it.

There was a really relaxed atmosphere and we were entertained by all of the people who got up and jammed (especially a chap who had a few too many) but all in all we were impressed. I'll be going again when I have a free Tuesday.

True that the floor is over the shallow end, but the building isn't listed at all.

Nice to know that the Can U Jam sessions are still running.

I was the Saturday night DJ there for nearly a year, I only left because of the very frequent changes in management - would love to work there again though.

Couple of years ago they had a good music selection... bit of everything really, but then it went a bit crap - just played dance music. Every time I've been in since, it's been pretty empty.

Which era were you shadowman?

I think its a very good place - saw a good concert there once in the deep end - and it conveniently has a hsbc cash point just outside few doors down and is next to a tram stop !
