I have a rubbish memory, so I can't remember who posted about knitting 'Branching Out' with Rowan Tapestry. My needle holder is now officially frogged (well, it's sat off the needles, part ripped out, part intact), so I've got a few balls of Tapestry going spare.

I noticed that the Tapestry gauge is a little smaller than the two yarns used in the Knitty pattern. Did you use the 5 mm needles suggested, or did you alter them? Roughly what width is the scarf? Thanks :) .

It was me! I'm really enjoying it. I started another one in a different shade for mother in law. I did buy some Kidsilk Haze, but after just a few rows I decided I didn't like it.

You can see progress up to last night here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/madstitcher2000/402563136/). I might block it afterwards but I'll see how it goes.

The scarf is about 4.5" wide and i'm using the needles the band reccomends.

It looks great! The Tapestry really suits the pattern.

Is that a 5 mm needle, or did you go for something smaller?

LOL I posted before seeing you'd edited your post. Thanks, Jules :) .

I love the ripple effect that the colour of the yarn gives the pattern. Very beautiful. Classy. I want one!

Thanks! I've had to undo it a few times, but I am enjoying it!

The Tapestry is a really snuggly, springy sort of yarn too. It's perfect for a scarf. My only problem with it was that because it's not tightly spun, I tend to stick my needle through it if I'm knitting too quickly. That's a minor quibble though. The colours are really pretty up close. Mine's blue, but it was tough making my mind up which one to go for.

It looks like such a beautiful project - it's a pity we didn't do it as a knitalong!

Well, we're definitely due another knitalong. The last one was the Clapotis (or was it the Fetchings? I can't remember now if we made that one official or not).

I'll start a thread to see if anyone has any suggestions for a new one. Branching out would be excellent, I think :) .

What colour is that jules?

I would love to do a branching out KAL. I would want to copy jules though and use Rowan Tapestry :) Just because it looks soooo good.

Do you know how many balls of Tapestry it takes jules?

Well, it says to 25g balls i think, but Tapestry is 50g. I suppose it depends how long you want it.
Its shade 177, the other one is a beigy colour

I've had a look at the other colours in the range but it's kind of hard to gauge which ones I like on the screen. I think it's a yarn I'd have to see in person to choose which colour....does anyone know if Hobbycraft do Rowan Tapestry, I know they have started selling other Rowan yarns. I have a £20 gift voucher for there.
