Hi there, am looking to buy a new widescreen tv....do you know whether one brand is better than another. What should I be looking for? Think I am going to stick with old fashioned CRT because of problems with screen burn on plasma tvs. Is there any place to look for a cheap and good value one?

Get yourself an LCD projector like me, its awesome you get an 80" screen and great clarity.
I got one of these:

Video projection is the future, try the OPTOMA H30 Themescene projector, around £1100 and it is totally STUNNING quality linked to a DVD player. I have a 9ft wide screen and the quality far outstrips any cinema in Sheffield for contrast, sharpness and colour. Give yourself the TRUE home cinema experience, its worth every single penny and unlike CRT sets, projectors hold their value very highly indeed.
If you stick with widescreen CRT TV (and I dont recommend it in the days of cheap video projection) DONT buy anything made by PROLINE.......we bought a Proline widescreen set from Comet ealier last year for £299 and its been back 3 times in 6 months for total sound failure, and then the whole set died completely on both other counts. Useless badly made trash.....

I thought I had a good system here Goldenfleece but yours sounds awsome.
Proline is comets own make and I think if your going to invest in a home cinema go for the best, Panasonic, Sony or Hitachi.
Home cinema is great entertainment.
We spend many hours viewing it and in my book is second to your bed in importance for a home purchase.
