It"s lovely to see the birds starting to build their nests isn"t it?
Mr Blackbird is looking a bit tatty after fighting and winning his territory...our back garden.
His Mrs is busily gathering nesting materials for her nest.
We don"t know where the nest is yet,and hope she doesn"t build it where she did last year.It was in the hedge right outside our front window so we had a very good view. That is until a neighbours cat came and up-tipped the nest. We were looking forward to seeing the fledglings,so were disappointed.

Last year,I was stood in our lounge ,playing with the Parrot(a rescued parrot!)and we were both making a lot of noise.
A movement on the decking outside the patio doors caught my eye.It was a robin with a worm in her beak who had stopped on her way to feed her young. She was standing on the decking looking at us through the patio doors,as if to say "What"s all that racket going on in there then?"
Do you have any funny or unusual bird/animal stories to tell?

I have a Magpie that keeps trying to move into my flat, very tame but seems to want to eat my cat.
I'm waiting for the Jay's to come back they've nested across from my window for the last 2 years but no sign of them yet.

A few years ago, we were just leaving a race track, heading for home. when walking through the carpark, I spotted this little sparrow laid on the ground. When I examined it closer I saw it's eyes fluttering, I picked it up, it was cold. So I just could'nt leave it there, so I took it with me to our van. Any way it started to warm up, and then it came around. So I held on to it while hubby drove off the Highway and found this golf course, where we let it free. I hope it's happy there, and it found new family and friend's, yes I'm a softy I know.

We once saw a little bird fly into our Conservatory window one morning last year, it looked dazed and knocked out so we whipped it down to the Vet's on Holme Lane, Vet examined it, and it instantly jumped onto the window ledge and started flying round the room! Don't anybody open any windows! Said the Vet!

We went to the local Botanic Gardens, where there are aviaries, on Sat.OH always has me guessing what sex any birds are and I"m usually wrong. This time was no exception.
There were 3 turkeys in there and they all looked the same to me apart from 1 being a bit bigger. So I said they are all female. No OH said.Biggest is male. It"s got a moustache. So I"m looking in vain at its face. There, he said, pointing half way down its chest area. Well it looked more like a beard that had slipped down its front!
