Anyone got one and if so is it a good talker? I understand they are the best talkers of all parrots.

BlackVelvet 24-02-2007, 16:50 mine is nearly 2 years old and a top talker. sing, whistle, talk, sound effects you name it. has a very extensive repatoire, some of it quite 'blue'. He picks up things very quickly, sometimes within the day. If you are considering one, please dont just get one on their ability to mimick, they do need proper care, diet and housing. Its not as simple as shoving a pot of sunflower seeds in the cage each day. they are said to be as intelligent as a 2 year old toddler and need proper stimulation to prevent them becoming board and self-harming. baileys_mum 24-02-2007, 17:02 I would love one, only they scare me somewhat BlackVelvet 24-02-2007, 17:03 Ours is a big softy, he was a handreared baby and very cuddly baileys_mum 24-02-2007, 17:17 Have you seen the one on youtube? daz1976 24-02-2007, 17:24 i have a grey called ozzy,he learns words sounds and diffrent whistles nearly everyday he is 4 years old, couldnt wish for a better pet but he is demanding he loves to be out of his cage most of the day,he can say atleast 200 words from singing happy birthday, calling the dog for a walk telling my daughter to shut up when she shouts Lotti 24-02-2007, 18:01 My grandparents have one (and before him, had another) and it never stops! It can be quite irritating when you're watching TV and all you can hear is 'what a load of crap' coming from the parrot and as soon as it gets to 10pm you get 'time for bed! time for bed!' The one they used to have used to mimic the phone ringing and get everyone running to the phone! Lotti 24-02-2007, 18:03 I would love one, only they scare me somewhat Ah my grandparents' old parrot loved my grandmother but used to bite my grandfather. Really quite amusing when he takes the mick out of you for not wanting to hold it in case it bites you and then it bites him... slimsid2000 25-02-2007, 13:28 It can be quite irritating when you're watching TV and all you can hear is 'what a load of crap' A good judge of telly though. clifford 25-02-2007, 13:39 Anyone got one and if so is it a good talker?
