Ive been asked to see if theres any one on here who used to go to the spa club on birley moor road. Now the sherwood i believe.
Did any of you have family who worked there or on the committee. also if anyone remembers "Sid Brightmoor or Bunny"

my brother inlaw use to be a regular,of the club,his name is roy bingham,,he remembers dot wally,,alan brightmore,,,clarice bingham,his mum,,,bill moore,,and many more

my grandad used to go in, he was a member of the Mess there. Dont know any names as he has passed away now, but he was called Louis Handley

hi.i remember the spa club from when i was little and know some brightmores.also mr handley lived on my mums rd and mrs wally lived near my auntie.know mr carline who was on the commitee,his daughter and my mum were best freinds.can remember seeing bomber graham there with brendan ingle and doing easter bonnet parades.

Hey I recall the Easter bonnet parades when I was younger...

My grandad and grandma used to go there along with my aunt and uncle
names of Tommy goodison and Irene and aunt called Vera , unlce called Arthur - that would have been in the 60's and 70's

new sid verywell used t get pulled 4 drink driving alot but he only ever drank orange lol 'think his cousin is peter stringfellow.what about ray revell last time i saw him he wos taxi driving

sid brightmores dughter lives next door to me too.

Spa club was brill, if it was still there our family and friends would use it once again, i used to love the atmosphere and all the rooms which all had something different going on.
Whatever mood you were in one of the rooms was just right for an evenings entertainment and if you just wanted a good old natter then you could without having to scream over loud music, if you wanted something livelier you could just nip into the concert room. (oh and lets not forget the bingo lol)

bunny was my grandad bernard sharpe who passed away in 1996, heard loads of stories about spa club from him.

Just been speaking to my OH and here are some of the names we can remember.
Sid Brightmore, Lou Handley, Alf Carlton, Bill Carline, Ted and Dolly Clay, Russ and Evelyn (can`t remember their surname tho) Albert Grey, Alf Benson,Ron Bingham and Kevin Betts.

I was a member of the club up and till it closed and so was my father.I remember Sid very well and also most of the commitee.My dad was on the commitee for a while (or maybe years) as he went in the club from the late sixties early seventies.I also remember Dot Wally who worked behind the bar years ago,used to stay in her house when i was little.also Billy Betts and his two sons John and Kevin,and loads of others.My dad was the doorman for a few years back in the eighties.I,m sure when i tell him of this thread he,ll be keepin track of it to catch up with old friends.My dads name is Trevor, PM me if you want more info. cheers.

hi i was on commitee for a few years at spa new most of the people that went in.i new bunny sharpe sid brightmoore.john betts ray allen and more.also dot walley a great lady& barmaid.dont forget jack walley dots husband great guy new him well had some good laughs wi jack.best concert chairman club ever had.cheers for now. ps stringfellow was syds nephew not cousin.
