View Full Version : Unofficial SF Knitting Group meeting: Wednesday March 28th, 7 pm.
The next meeting of the SF Knitting Group will be on Wednesday March 28th at 7 pm at The Wool Baa.
Many thanks once again to Jill for offering the Wool Baa as the host venue :) .
Please vote in the poll if you're going to be there, so we have an idea of numbers.
An advance note for your diaries: the date for the April meeting has been pencilled in as Wednesday April 25th, same time, same place :) .
I won't be there this time...i've got two essays to hand in the day after. But i'll try and get to the one in April :)
I should make it, my essay isn't in until the 5th... I've got 2 weekends away before that so I'll have to see how they're going :(
Can I decide nearer the time? :)
Plain Talker 24-02-2007, 13:19 count me in, it was great fun last time!
knitbird 24-02-2007, 18:58 I had a lot of fun last time, but don't know yet if I'll be able to come, as I'll get back from holiday on the Saturday, and might not have recovered. ;)
Lucy-Lastic 25-02-2007, 19:06 Not sure yet either as hubby is due to be in China at the end of the month - but we dont usually get confirmation til a couple of weeks before hand.
Glitter Star 26-02-2007, 15:49 I will be there. I really enjoyed it last time because I got to nosy at other people's projects and it is always refreshing to speak to people who know the dilemmas of knitting.:)

Hi Glitter Star, welcome to the group  . Glad to see that JoeP managed to sort out your login problems :) . Just to let you know, once you've made five posts, you'll be able to post links to photos of the knitting projects you're working on.
I'd love to but its just too far to go at that time of night....sorry!

The Wool Baa is at Hunters Bar. Here's a map (http://www.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&cr=countryUK|countryGB&q=the+wool+baa&near=Sheffield&sa=X&oi=local&ct=image) :) .
Oh, and welcome to the knitting group!

You can call in for help anytime you want. Open until 5 on Saturday (leaving enough time for a red wine hangover...), and 6.30 on Tuesday. I hope you've made a start on the duck?!
Madam_Bo 16-03-2007, 14:01 Would it be considered very rude if I was knitting with wool from somewhere else? I love the wool baa but haven't been able to get over there and shop for ages. I certainly don't want to take the lovely Jill's hospitality for granted though.

Well I wouldnt have been using Wool Baa yarn if I had managed to get some knitting done last time (did end up buying a ball of sock yarn while I was there though:D)

I think she has sensors on the shop door which set off flashing red lights and sirens if you attempt to sneak non-Wool Baa yarn through the door :o :hihi: .

Ignoring Hecate's Wheezy-ish response (:) ) .....it won't bother me at all if you arrive with yarn from elsewhere. I spend a lot of time helping people with patterns and yarns bought from other places - it isn't a problem.
Ignoring Hecate's Wheezy-ish response
How very dare you! :suspect:  My reputation is starting to proceed me!:hihi: Anyway, it's not the sirens and flashing lights you have to worry about, it's the spiked coffees and 'stinger' on the way out that you should be really worried about! :gag:
beansforyou 19-03-2007, 00:52 I've voted,
I'm afraid I won't be able to make it, it's the same day as my theory test and I'll be either drowning my sorrows or celebrating
Once I've passed my test and got transport i'll be much more sociable I promise! :)
Madam_Bo 26-03-2007, 08:46 I've just jumped in with a late yes but really it's more of a maybe - I have to get a couple of thousand words written before I can even think about leaving the house this week!
Lucy-Lastic 26-03-2007, 09:29 Sadly I think this is a no for me - Hubby flys out to China tomorrow:(
I haven't been posting for while on the knitting group, as I haven't managed to do much knitting. Would love to come to the meeting - would finally have some knitting time (have only just finished the Irish hiking scarf I started in November!!). Unfortunately I can't living down in Nottingham. But come the end of next month, we are going to be living back up around Sheffield and will be able to come to the next meeting.

Ditto. Well, maybe a few less than that but I'm also supposed to be teaching a group exercise class on Thursday morning and it needs a rethink, so it looks like I won't make it either :(
Madam_Bo 28-03-2007, 16:09 I'm a couple of hundred shy so I'm sulking at home. Maybe next time X
I'm a couple of thousand shy...well, three thousand words shy to be exact! :|
Hope you all had a lovely time!
Plain Talker 28-03-2007, 20:49 Just got back home from the meet. had a lovely time, just seven of us, this time, so a bit more room round the table for everyone.
Many thanks to Jill, again, for hosting this meet, I had a great time.
Al Bethere 28-03-2007, 21:03 Thanks Jill, another great meeting. 5 out of 7 doing socks. Was pleased to bring my first attempt. Lots of good chat. Perfect.

Were you celebrating or drowning your sorrows beansy? Hopefully the former! :)
Thanks for hosting the meeting Jill. It was a good night out and great to meet people
Even if I wasn't even knitting!!!
When's the next one?
Wool4brains 29-03-2007, 08:20 Thank you for your hospitality Jill. I was trying to think of the last time I got out on my own after dark and I couldn't think of a single instance since my son was born. For anyone who worries about the traffic - there was little going in and none coming home and plenty of places to park.
...When's the next one?
The next one is Wednesday April 25th :) .
Thanks to all for the thanks! I enjoy it too:)

I should have finished my assignments by then :) If anyone is good at waffling bu****it let me know, I have 3000 words to reach!!
I'm sulking because today at uni was a complete waste of time (again) so I could have come last night after all :(
