I don't want to do down this poor guy's ordeal if it's true and it would be a bit worrying seeing as I don't live far from here but this is such a weird story. Ringstead Crescent is an extremely quiet residential road, absolutely the last place you'd set yourself up if you wanted to steal a car. It's a weird time (3.20 in the afternoon. Still light and the schools about to kick out so plenty of people around). The guy is from a completely different area of the city - I guess he could have been visiting friends or something. I don't know.......as I say, if it really happened he won't want people disbelieving him, but that is one strange tale..... crookesey 23-02-2007, 15:46 Am I being over-suspicious here? It's absolutely the right place for these scum bags to ply their trade as they don't expect any trouble from their victims. Folk from Highfields actually do travel to other parts of the city, don't be so naive. If this sort of thing happens to you lock the car doors from the inside, don't get out of the car for any reason and call the police as soon as you get to a safe place. If you were at fault the other party will no doubt have contacted the police and you can defend leaving the scene of an accident by telling the police that you were very frightened. irenewilde 23-02-2007, 15:58 Folk from Highfields actually do travel to other parts of the city, don't be so naive. I'm not being naive, of course people travel around the city - it's just an odd time and place. Ringstead Crescent doesn't lead anywhere. It doesn't really matter. And I *always* keep my car doors locked when I'm out at night and usually in the daytime too, though I must admit if I'd been driving down Ringstead Crescent in daylight I probably wouldn't have! I don't want to do down this poor guy's ordeal if it's true and it would be a bit worrying seeing as I don't live far from here but this is such a weird story. I don't know.......as I say, if it really happened he won't want people disbelieving him, but that is one strange tale..... Those thoughts went through my head because unless you were visiting someone on that road, you'd surely stick to travelling along Sandygate Road? md25 23-02-2007, 16:19 That story doesn't ring entirely true for some reason, although I can't put my finger on why that would be! Yerman 23-02-2007, 17:28 Why the suspicion? Ringstead is a perfect spot. Because it is narrow and has cars parked on either side at all times of the day and night motorists can only drive slowly up or down. An ideal location for criminal intent. It is fairly affluent and is home to decent, non-agressive folk. The Thresher shop at the bottom of the road has been targeted on numerous occasions. mattyS 23-02-2007, 17:28 suspicious eh! beamer 23-02-2007, 18:30 Why would something like this happening be suspicious? Never be suspicious of anything like this happening in or around where you live because things like this can happen anywhere and at any time day/night. This poor chap could have been visiting someone on this road? He may have got lost and took a wrong turn? The poor bloke must have been terrified.
