View Full Version : Do you need help with promotion?
Craig Holmes 23-02-2007, 10:41 Myself and a few associates are considering forming a Flyering firm to help out small to medium sized club promotions by distributing their flyers within flyer packs. The concept arises from our personal experience of running smaller scale promotions. We suffer the expense of flyer design and print but the costs of regular person to person flyer distribution seems to be a cost too far (yeah your mates will do some for free, but its usually on their terms...not when you want it!).
However if your flyer was part of a pack you could pay around £2 an hour per location (i.e The Uni's, eccy road, division street etc) which would result in considerable savings. It's inevitable that in the near future Sheffield council will demand you have a flyering licence to flyer, again this is a cost we would bear so you wouldn't have to.
Would promoters care to comment on their thoughts on this concept?
Cheers. :D
I am not a promoter but I do own a bar and would be intrested in somthing like this
Craig Holmes 23-02-2007, 13:39 excellent news. anyone else interested to find out more? If enough people show interest in the basic premise we're in position to mobilise such a flyer team in a matter of weeks.

I have never heard of this either, which I do find strange as I have been promoting for a fair while. Do you just do the Freshers weeks?
We have used Fly-shot before for a one off event and I have to say they were very good. Our event was on August Bank Holiday Sunday and bearing in mind the other things that were on that night we still managed to get almost 400 people through the door.
I think it’s a great idea to help promote some of Sheffields smaller nights as most are often over shadowed by the big boys. If you get this off the ground let me know, not saying I wouldn’t use Fly-shot again but hey a bit of competition is healthy!! Good luck with it.
Craig Holmes 27-02-2007, 15:51 Yeah I think I will plug away at this...I'm currently only working a few hours a week so I've definitely got the time and the drive! Flyshot watch-out! lol.

I think you need to sit down and work out your own promotion strategy,as ALCHEMY was a total disaster, and to add to it you had 3 months to promote it.If i was you i would let the professionals do there job and re think on another type of income.
Craig Holmes 27-02-2007, 20:32 Take the flyers...put them in the bag...hand them out....I think I'll be ok cheers :)

:o Did,nt work last time did it
Craig Holmes 28-02-2007, 11:52 If you read my first post, the whole point is that I found the costs of person to person flyering to be prohibitive so I didnt get as much done as I wanted...hence the idea I posted.
Craig Holmes 28-02-2007, 13:08 You may have met me but you definitely dont know me. I suggest you get on with your business and I'll get on with mine.

Yes thats fine by me,i just want to add one thing.I would,nt shout your mouth off too much about bad experiences with venues as it doesnt do you Justice for future refrences.UNIQ is a credible club along side DQ and people reading your threads are no doubt like me laughing!
Craig Holmes 28-02-2007, 13:25 Ok then back to the flyer packs!
I've got 5 establishments willing to give it a go now. I need a few more and we'll give it a blast. PM me for further details!
