I saw Ricky Gervais last night at the City Hall. He's very funny BUT.... he's only on for 65 mins!

The show started about 7.45 (not 7.30 as advertised) and some comedian who I've never heard of but sounds just like Hugh Grant (but wasn't) came on for about 20 mins. He was quite funny. That was followed by a 20 min break and Ricky came on at 8.25 and finished at 9.30. In fact by 9.40 the City Hall was empty!

The show he did was very good and funny, but like I said way too short. Value for money (£25 per ticket), I'm not sure.

Hope you enjoy it!

I agree.. what he did he did really well.. but as a professional comedian doing another 15-20 mins of jokes shouldn't be too hard.. definetley felt a bit done for 25 quid..

Cheers folks, really looking forward to it.

Out of interest, when you sit and watch a Stand up DVD do you ever feel like you have had enough? I sometimes think they go on too long.

That doesn't justify the ticket price for just an hr, but i would rather leave begging for more rather than begging to leave :o)

Im just keeping the optimism going :)

Yes, I wanted to go but when I saw the price of tickets , I changed my mind.

It was great, I was on the front row :D

It didn't last as long as I would have liked but the time he was on, he was very very good.

The support, Will Smith was pretty good too.

My lovely friend has given me the "plus one" on her guest list place.

But even so I'll feel ripped off if there's only an hour of fun

I went to see Jimmy Carr last year and he was great. He was on for an hour before the interval and then an hour afterwards. When the show finished he went to entrance/exit to speak to the audience. Excellent value for money. Very funny too.

Can anyone recommend anyone else to see?

Ross Noble - saw him do a "secret" warm-up gig (for his show at (I think) The Roundhouse) at the Lescar a few months back and he was meandering entertainingly for ages. And only a tenner too! :D

Daniel Kitson is also fantastic - he does 2 hour-long sets but often goes on for a lot longer but the time flies by.

To me it felt like we had only watched the first half! Disappointingly short, though brillient!

I'd reccommend Ross Noble too. Seen him twice at City Hall. He's very funny.

I think there are still dates for his next one in Sheff in march/april. Check the city hall website.

Brilliant, loved it! We were all out by 9.30 and it seemed to suddenly just end but was still great.

I didn't know he had done so much work for charity! ;)
