Can any one remember the name of the coffee bar which used to be on the shops at Park Hill flats in the sixties

Thanks for the reply. It wasn't a youth club i don't think, you went downstairs to it I think, real frothy coffee & stuff with a juke box, Cliff Richard & Summer holiday spring to mind :gag: Its the name of the place thats bugging me :confused:

Wasn't it called the "Pavement" and owned by Charlie Denton whose son and daughter both worked there in the early sixties?

OH NO!!!! not another name into the mix :huh: .Her indoors says that the Zodiac rings a bell with her. As for the pavement I think the whole shopping area was called this at the time & probably still is.

GRANDAD I could be wrong! We went in there for our lunch sometimes, usually AFTER payday!! while working on the flats as apprentice electricians. The owner would let us go downstairs in our overalls, but would give us brown paper to put on the seating so we wouldn't get the benchseats dirty!! They had a great juke box with all of the current hits, which was the main attraction for us 15-16 year olds.

Just to add to that - on the left hand side going up Duke Street right opposite the end of the "pavement", was another little coffee and sandwich shop that also had great sounds, where we would spend sometime "skivving" extra coffee breaks - not quite as fancy or as big as Charlie's place - can you remember the name of that place???? Sorry for making things more complicated!! LOL

The one on Duke St was called MAISIES I can remember the one on the Pavement having once spent all my birthday money on the jukebox but the name is
