View Full Version : Comic Relief Does Fame Academy ~ BBC1
Thirteen stars will sing for survival as the Academy opens its doors for a new in-take of celebrity students. Whether they're in tune or off key, these celebrity wannabe singers will fight it out for viewers' votes to stay in the competition and raise cash for Red Nose Day 2007.
The last time they did this it was great fun, although I didn't agree with the winning act ~ I'd have liked Adrian Edmondson to have won it, just for the entertainment value.
Not sure exactly when it starts, but I'd imagine it'll be Saturday, 3 March.
weenireeni 22-02-2007, 21:26 has it been announced who's appearing yet?
laughalot01 22-02-2007, 21:57 i enjoyed this last time dnt know who is in it yet should be gd again tho
Confirmation that this starts next Saturday at 5.55 p.m., and there's a results show that evening as well and behind the scenes shows on BBC3.
No news yet as to who is taking part ~ we probably won't know for certain until they're actually announced on stage next Saturday.
absynthfairy 25-02-2007, 11:37 I've read Linda Robson, Shaun Williamson (barry from eastenders) and Tara Palmer Tompkinson are all confirmed. It was an interview with Tara I read and she said she was most worried about these two because Linda had recorded the theme song to Birds of a Feather and Shaun had won Celeb Stars in their Eyes as Meatloaf. So if thats as good as it gets I'm concerned! I loved Edith last time....
Celebs revealed! (http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/realitytv/a43175/fame-academy-celebs-revealed.html)
Didn't Tricia Penrose release a couple of records a few years' ago? It's a bit unfair that someone who has sung professionally in the past is up against complete beginners.
Hopefully, they'll be judged on entertainment value, not just their singing ability.
Nightcaster 26-02-2007, 19:56 Oh not another celebrity talent show, Soapstar Superstar, Celebrity X Factor, Celebrity Come Dancing, Celebrity Fame Academy 1, Dancing on Ice, I know it's all in the name of charity and it's great to raise money for a good cause (I am donating £5 to Comic Relief again) but is'nt it about time that TV came up with a more original way to get the stars to raise money?
Nightcaster 26-02-2007, 19:58 Oh an I wish they would get people on the shows who I've heard of! In a typical show I only know about 3 of the 10/12 or whatever number of contestants.
northernboy 27-02-2007, 06:12 Rowland Rivron?! Why?!
Rowland Rivron?! Why?!
Is that a general question or does it relate specficically to this topic? :)
I reckon Shaun-Barry-from-Eastenders will be pretty good. I seem to remember he did a very passable Freddie Mercury for either CR or Children In Need a few years back
Tricia Penrose ?? That's cheating. She's a singer as well as an actress.
Pah - I like the ones who have to really try. Ade Edmunson last time was brilliantly funny and Edith deserved to win as she'd improved the most.

i agree! i was lookin forward to fame academy, but i dont know who hardly any of them are!!!
and tricia penrose tried to get in to eurovision a few years back so maybe shes wanting to (re) launch her career??
Thank goodness Roland's gone.....he was a bit dire.
I enjoyed Miranda's performance.
Tricia (cheat) must be favourite to win, unless everybody starts to realise that this is not something she hasn't done before.
dieselbabe 04-03-2007, 12:07 Who is Miranda heart i did not find her funny at all. I agree i loved it when Adrian Edmondson was on it, i love it if he won. Any fans of his that loved his part in fame academy my cousin sent me a link from youtube with all his solo acts on it. It is over 19mins long but it brings back his good moments.

IMO, Angelica should have been voted off last night ~ she was by far the worst of the three. Someone needs to tell Craig Revel Horwood not to comment on tuning, when he appears to be totally tone-deaf himself.
If you want to watch the training in the Academy during the day (and join in, which is what I've found myself doing), then it's available under the red button on any BBC channel.
The voice of an angel, and a total sex god. Vote for Ray Stubbs!
Stubbs is becoming the favorite in this house - him and Mel. Tricia and Shaun keep getting torn apart by the judges (not tonight but in general) and yet they keep saving Angelica who can't really sing.
TPT is good fun too which I didn't expect
pattricia 11-03-2007, 20:14 Help :help: There killing The Rat Packs songs. :gag:
smileyjiver 11-03-2007, 22:53 I think Angelica should have been knocked out tonight rather than Mel. Angelica is so tuneless at least Mel had the comedy element and I thought she was great tonight. TPT was very good with her boots too. I do like Tricia and I think the judges are being tough on her because they know that she is a singer as well as an actress so are expecting a lot more from her than from the others so are being more harsh with her.
I have no idea who I'd like to win this now.
On voice and technique, it should be Tricia, but Tara deserves it on improvement and entertainment value.
Oh damn....Tricia or Tara, Tara or Tricia.....decisions decisions!:help:
awwwwwwwwww....Tara won.:)
As Tara and Tricia spent last night in a hotel with their families, they would probably have known that Tara was favourite to win, which is why I think Tricia made the comment about them both winning last night.
I was a bit surprised that Tara was allowed to These Boots.... again tonight, as it was the song she chose last night. They were right though....she'll have that following her around for a long time.
I think they both got to choose their favorite songs as Trica had preformed her song before and it was the one the judges had totally loved 9but the name escapes me).
I am glad TPT won, goes o show how much we love the underdog lol

I was watching the live feed on Thursday morning. Originally, Tricia was going to sing last night's song (which was her favourite from the whole series) in the semi-final, but Carrie and David told her that would mean she would have to sing the other song in the final, so she swapped them around. Tara was allowed to sing her same favourite song both in the semi-final and in the final.
I suppose it doesn't really matter, because last night was only for show anyway, and most of the voting had been done in the previous 24 hours. As Tricia said, they were both winners on Thursday.
