We most often think of minimalism in terms of Design, especially interior.

But what painters, other than Frank Stella, were minimalists?

Mondrian went from stuff like this...

to this....

Is that minimalism?

I like the second one. I don't know what is classed as artistic minimalism, but when I see the second picture, I do associate as minimalistic. It does not give me a mental association or impression of fuzziness.

Knowing art, each square or rectangle was probably calculated down to its exact size, and have some kind of mathematical relationship with each other or something. I find it nice to look at, but I wouldn't buy it though! :hihi:

My art is being compromised as the system won't allow my minimalist answer by itself.

Well of course there was Ad Reinhardt:

who influenced the mystic and poet Robert Lax, examples of who's work can be found in this essay:

Mondrian I never got or understood due to the fact I grew up in the 80's and his influence seemed to be everywhere in advertising. It wasn't until i saw some of his stuff at an exhibition that it clicked with me.
I do like Rothko and one day I will get to see the Seagram paintings
