We moved out of a house in September and have been trying to get our deposit back since. First they wanted receipts to confirm council tax/water rates have been paid. Now they are saying we were in there a day over the contract as we left a cot there that we picked up the day after we were supposed to move, they also insist on cleaning costs even though we left the house clean. They have just told us to "**** off arseholes" on the phone.....anyone know what i can do now to get our 400 quid back?

Put everything down in writing and clearly state that if they dont return your money within 7 days you will be taking this matter to a small claims court. If they are making up most of the allegations then they dont have a leg to stand on. You can take them to a small claims court all via the internet for £30 at https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

You need to pursue this with the Landlord and not letting agent. the LA works on behalf of the landlord.
