That"s what our parents used to say to make sure we stayed in bed and went to sleep at night!
Looking back on it now it seems a terrible thing to frighten a child with.
We were told the Bogey Man hid under the bed, (so we kept our feet well and truly tucked in!)and he lurked in dark corners and cupboards.
No wonder we were scared of the dark!
As I got a bit older I too, I"m sorry to say, teased my siblings with the Bogey Man.We did used to laugh about it after though.
It appears that there are quite a few countries that have Bogey men,or similar stories.Sometimes it"s to try and protect the children so that they don"t go too close to water etc.
Were you ever told stories like this?
Does a fear you learned in childhood still affect you today?
