havealaugh 13-10-2004, 21:36 Wow death!!!
sorry for suggesting that i will keep thinking for you!! i take it u aint scottish!! well i hope not cos i sent my scottish mate a pic of my baby in a frame! i hope that i didnt bring her any bad luck Oooppss !!
no seriously in what culture does a picture frame mean death just so i dont go sending to any of my friends!!!
i keep thinking 4 u how old are your parents if you dont mind me asking??
I bet they'd love it if you went to see them for their anniversary & made that part of your gift :)
Gift wise have you thought about maybe a special rose /commemorative plant or something? That's if they have a garden.
What about naming a star after them? Its something that will always be there... and will be remembered in years to come... :)
Also you can send them the details once you have done it :)
Your parents will be true stars in their own right ;)
Will keep thinking for you...
Would be nice to know what you choose to do...
I am sure it will be nice whatever you decide on...
A x
funkyukgal 18-10-2004, 01:48 im a SBC - Scotland Born Chinese. In Chinese culture, giving someone a photo frame or a clock represents the dead so its not nice. Im sure there are others too but those 2 stuck in my mind. Oh and White flowers too. Not all chinese people go by it. My sister aint bothered by it. She only wanted photo frames for her birthday but the rest of the family including myself wouldnt give her any lol
Anyways, hope that helped abit.
Oh and i still have no idea what to give my parents :help:
I do want to give them something to do with pearls tho representing their 30th...
Havealaugh - they are in their 50's
Funky, How about getting onto a plane and just turn up on their doorstep unannounced. I am sure that would be the best present they could wish for, and what better excuse for a party

You could try looking at www.allsportsawards.co.uk as they have some excellent anniversary gifts that can be personalised.
Lots more photo frames, vases, boxes, flasks and tankards. Based in Sheffield too.
coopster1974 19-10-2004, 19:34 Send em a newspaper cutting of a recently released murderer who's just spent 25 years behind bars.
Add to it that his sentence was shorter than your parents!!!
