if you plan properly you should never need to rush.
it also helps that i am laid back. try just ignoring everything for an hour, when you can do this without any trouble extend the time you ignore things for until its whole days.
hey presto, no rusho!

Don`t take any notice of those folks who want to spend their time rushing and not speaking to people. They`ll usually end up in an early grave anyway and won`t have had time to learn anything worthwhile to pass on to a younger generation. Just look at them and smile, knowing that you are able to control your life and enjoy it immensely. And next time you see someone smile back at you and share the time of day???? It`ll probably be me.
Cheers mate.
I am a working mum and have a teenage son whom I sit with a cuppa with every tea-time and talk about our day. He then does his own thing for a few hours and we talk again later. We eat our meals together as a family 8/10 times, which I think is important.
People are busier these days it's true. What with longer working hours and eating out, shopping and other so-called leisure activities people are often too tired or just can't be bothered to talk anymore.
Television dominates a lot of our lives and the good old-fashioned board games and cards have almost disappeared. Maybe we should all set aside one night or one hour dedicated to switching the TV off and talking or playing together.
Hiya,
My wife and I realised some time ago that we spend more time talking than most couples we know! I think that taking stuff slow is a must nowadays. I slowed down in the 90s after illness and bereavement, and I've enjoyed my life more since then.
One thing I have noticed is that I could do more with my time if I was better organised - sometimes I get totally stuffed because I underestimate how much time it's going to take me to do stuff. I found that I almost always underestoimated how long things took in my work until a few years ago - now I'm a lot more accurate and I feel less stressed out by giving myself the time to do a job properly rather than rushing the job.
I think modern comms impact on how we run our lives; the biggest advantage of mobile phones nowadays seems to be that you can plan less - if you get caught short you can call the people you're meeting and change plans at very short notice.
There's a book called, I think, 'Faster' by James Gleick where he looks at the way in which modern society has speeded up.

So true - I try and engage someone new in conversation every day, just for the pleasure. Old, young, male, female, whatever - it's amazing how many people are still willing to spend time with you to 'shoot the breeze' for a few minutes.
I view it as building community, one person at a time.....:)
