I read a letter in the star about a youth in Roe Woods Firshill who was walking an english mastiff dog and as he walked along he was kicking this poor dog repeatedly in the ribs, when someone tried to intervene he said it was his dog to do what he liked with and proceeded to give it more kicks around the head and mouth. the person who wrote to the star has been in touch with the RSPCA but they cannot do much intill they find out where this idiot lives. This poor dog must be treat like this every day I am hoping that some of our forum slueths will be able to track this brainless moronic coward down, he was walking in roe woods firshill to fox street, where 3 men challenged him and he threatened to burn their house down! perhaps he lives on fox street? All we know about the owner is he looks to be in his early 20`s, if anyone out there lives in that area and can shed any light on who he might be please ring spring street with any info you can, lets hope we can help this poor animal.

...awful, the poor thing he should have it taken off him at least.

Nearly three weeks ago I stopped some drunk from carrying on an attack on a big issue sellers GSD outside M&S on Fargate 2.10 in the afternoon, I was on my way to the NatWest and saw him run up and kick this dog in the ribs like he was taking a penalty. Gut reaction for me was to run across and drag him off, he walked away came back foaming at the mouth and floored me with a few punches. I took a kick to the head and one in the ribs as well cracking a few that still hurt now.

No-one did a thing to help me, typical Sheffield.

The dog was fine the seller never thanked me and I was too mad at the lump on my face to stick around and call the police.

Scottish bloke about 5,9, nasty looking b*st*rd, not seen him since but he'll know sooner or later...

Thanks

Highly likely he lives in the Fox Street area although there are a few rogues living on Firshill.
The Star has quite a bit of clout and I'll bet that someone who knows this vermin will read it and do something about it.

Hi Nikita, I saw that piece in the paper as well, not much in the way of a desription though, if thats the way he always treats the poor dog his neighbours may be aware of him already, lets hope some of them are forum members, is a bull mastiff a "bill sykes" type of dog? I think it is

I absolutely hate any animal cruelty and don't understand how people can kick a beautiful, innocent animal that has done no wrong to them. I wish they could get kicked back the same way so they can feel it too. But my husband reminded me that people can do this to other humans too. Lets hope this s**t head can be found.

Mollie, Bull Mastiffs actually are not the "Bill Sykes" type. If you refer to the dog shown in the film Oliver, that is a Bull Terrier, or as they are sometimes known to avoid confusion with the smaller, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, an English Bull Terrier. We have a Bull Terrier bitch called Tallie, and they are the most affectionate breed with people. The idea of one being harmed makes me feel murderous.
Mr Jingles, you are a brave man, and you acted appropriately in the circumstances. The drunken moron deserved to be stopped with physical force. What a pity it is that nobody came to your aid. Nobody came to my aid, four years ago at Bootle Oriel Road train station, near Liverpool [I am an ex-pat Sheffielder] when a drunken waste of DNA attempted to attack me. He received a heavy kick to the testicles when he attempted to punch me. Good job I went to Hinde House School and know how to fight! People walked past, pretending not to see what had happened. Don't let the attitude of others change you in any way. You did the right thing. Best wishes, and I hope your bruises heal quickly.

Rest assured not all of us would have run off with our tails between our legs, I would have jumped in and helped for sure. They're just scum.. Harsh word which I only use when I need to believe me!

Mr Jingles,

Well done for preventing things from getting any worse. Cannot believe that no-one at least checked to see if you was ok after that incident. I would have if I'd witnessed it. It may come as some consolation to you though, that I was around the Cathedral at that time and a man answering your description was arrested and taken away by police officers. He was with a female who was shouting she'd been bitten by a dog. It's got to be the same man.
