We have provisonally booked our wedding venue for the 19th of July next year, and now I have to ring the Sheffield registry office to see if they can do that date. The thing is I live in Chesterfield and apparantly I've got to apply for the marriage at Sheffield and then ring Chesterfield and sort that bit out or something like that! Has anyone got married in a different district to where they live? Any advice would be very gratefully received!!! :help: :help: :help:

I got married in Ashbourne district and live in chesterfield
you book the registrar for the wedding in the district you are getting married in. you also have to get permission and the licence from the district you live in, that costs £30 each too. so form filling, answering questions then a 3 week wait for the licence...
hope that helps :)

Thanks for that! It would be so much simpler if we got married in Chesterfield! But it has been my dream since being a little girl to get married at the Wednesday ground and I've finally twisted my fella's arm to do it that way! (Because he didn't want a church wedding and I didn't want to get married in the registry office!) :)
