View Full Version : Pop videos more like porn videos.
PaulTansley 13-10-2004, 09:22 Is it me or are the pop video's of today more like porn videos.
Every time I put the music channel on, there some hot females baring almost every part of there anatomy.
Not like I'm complaining of course.
cleopatra87 13-10-2004, 09:25 you are right tho, you would never see this kind of video before, they are getting more and more pornographic.
It's 'art'.
I'm just not sure why so many musicians, especially rap artists, make videos that will hardly ever be shown in their original content? (P.I.M.P - 50 cent, Lap Dance - N.E.R.D. etc)
Lickable 13-10-2004, 09:28 Lickable sits and waits patiently :heyhey:
To be honest... I dont think its good for the kids to see this kinda stuff. they should have two videos. One for daytime upto about 9pm and then another after nine, where they degrade themselves for our pleasure!
It annoys me that pop artists can't seem to release a record without it having words blanked out because of swearing. Listening to Eminem records on the radio is like watching Norman Collier all over again. Do they not have a wider range of vocabulary.
Surely they should be classified like films. How can we allow kids at 8 listening to songs about pimps, hookers, hoes and muthaf****rs.
I'm not a prude by any measure but these people have a responsibility to the generation that buy their records.
Such songs do carry a "Parental Advisory" label on the albums/singles and are always censored on radio/tv. However i'm not sure if those stickers make it illegal for kids to but them?
They have to use bad language and women to sell their music because they have no talent.
Not complaining about the women on the music videos ;), the mute button is the best button the remote :P

But what exactly is the difference between the amount of swearing on a CD and what you get in a 12 or 15 rated film??
At least with the film ratings you have to be a certain age to see the things and there is an element of control.
The Parental Advisory stickers mean nothing and doesn't stop any kid from actually buying it.
Martin_s 13-10-2004, 11:55 Gotta love the "swearing = no talent" arguement...
Chatting to kids about some artists like Eminem and you sometimes get a rare insight into just how tuned in the guy is to some issues that kids really care about...
Not for everyone... it's just a sign of the times... If you don't like it you can always turn off, same as our parents and parents parents did...

Agreed!
If you think the milk tastes sour, don`t drink it.
I hear that Gary Wilmot is still on the circuit, Cliff Richard if you are lucky...

My gripe isn't about my personal taste. I accept the choices I have not to buy or listen to the music.
The fact is that some lyrics and language is not suitable for minors yet films with that sort of language have proper ratings.
Artists have a responsibility to children who are easily influenced by what they hear from their favorite pop groups.
Ghosthunter 13-10-2004, 20:27 I very much agree with ianmitchell
the music is so bad that the only way to get kids to listen to it is to fill full of porn!
Whatever happened to Peters and Lee?
They were nice!
