Hi all it is my b'day on Saturday (18th) and was just wondering that if i went down town and got asked for id at a bar/club would they be that picky over one day (not even that)?

Just wondering as i thought if not then i could be greedy and go out both nights.:D

Depends really I think. Do you look 18? They might not even ask you at all if you look old enough

I look older than 18 but the last time i went down was on my mates 18th and guess what everywhere asked for id so i just came home, didn't want to spoil his night etc.

I work in a pub and if it was me, it would depend how old all your friends were and if you all looked old enough. if everyone else was 18 or older i'd probably let you get away with it... but then not if i was in a crap mood!! But then again, i dont work in the city centre so i guess it's different.

Oh everyone will be 18 anyway on friday i think i am just going out with the g/f as she has work on sunday morning.

i got id'd the monday night of my 18th (i was 18 on the tues) and they wouldnt let me in the club till midnight..was very very annoying as i had been going to the club since i was 15 anyway! if you get id'd at a club they probably wont let you in till midnight and embarras you in front of everyone in the queue (hint..dont go to gatecrasher!)

No am saving Gatecrasher until Saturday. Just looking at bars on west street for now.

Start at S1 Bar and work our way down. Varsity, cavendish, lava, bedroom e.t.c.

hmmm not sure then cos S1 seem to be pretty strict on I.D - well they have been when ive been there they always seem to be asking people.

& will ID you at the bar so just a heads up! Vodka Revolution ID me pretty much every time I go there...

Where is this Vodka Revoulution i always hear about it but have never seen it.

We ask everybody who doesnt look over 21 for ID so fetch your passport with you and we'd love to have you in our establishment :thumbsup:

in short if you aren't 18 they won't serve you. if they did and got caught they'd be fined and would risk losing their license.

I suggest you go to Fagans, you can guarantee D-Money won't be there lusting over you and foaming at the mouth

I'm 32 and my brother is 36 and we both got ID'd and refused entry in almost every establishment we went to on holiday last year!

(my brother is grey and almost bald too!!)

Ok it wasn't in Sheffield, or even England in fact but all the same, don't count on 40 being guaranteed entry anywhere!:)

I've been out in town twice in the past week or so and got ID'd in Cavendish twice in one night (once on the door then at the bar) and in Varsity at the door and again in Cavendish another night too. I don't mind, I don't look particularly old at all (although I am 21) so I expect it, but what's so annoying is in Cavendish I saw one of my brothers friends in there and she's only 17!! how did she get past the door and bar staff without getting ID'd?! I wouldn't say she looks any older than me but I reckon it's because she's pretty tall and I'm a bit on the short side, that seems to play a big part!

Anyway, I work in a pub and if I ID someone and they don't have any, I won't serve them, full stop. Harsh I know but knowing my luck they'd be a "mystery shopper" trying to see if I'll back down and serve them anyway, then I'd get fined lol.
