My partners deputy manager of a nursery. I think she gets 20p an hour more than her staff. £800 a month after tax. What a thankless profession to get into, and full of girls that leave school with no idea of what they want to do and think (probably because they spend an hour or two a week playing with someone else's kid) that it will be great fun, easy and really rewarding. They soon learn.
Dont want to put anybody off though

I agree, I don't pay my deputy that sort of money!

I think the owner / manager doesnt have a clue about running a business, but its a respected nursery in Millhouses area.

What should a deputy manager get roughly? (she basically runs the place on a day to day basis).

it is on a sliding scale as you can see ripsaw dependant on experience. But its fair.

So these are pretty typical of Sheffield Nurserys wage levels for deputy? She has been working in nurserys since leaving school 14 yrs ago, has been deputy for prob 3 years, and got all the NVQ's etc

Call them. It shows that you want the job. If it's gone then you find out and can move on.:)

but would that make me look a bit desperate

It is neither a date, nor you buying something: you can't 'look desperate'.

They want an enthusiastic staff member who is eager to be there. You will appear to be that person.

You are also wanting to know if you've been rejected, as you're a go-getting sort, and if that's the case you need to be getting on with the job-hunt.( for all they know) :)
