Danielle 12-10-2004, 01:36 PM I'm thinking of buying a house in FoxHill, Browning Road part. Could anyone please tell me what this area is like. I've had a look on the street and it seems alright. A lot of the houses have been bought already. Any information would be great.
Illaria 30-10-2004, 10:08 PM Im originally from fox hill and if thats where you want to live great stuff but its not as safe as it used to be I only go there now to have my hair done. I wouldnt like to think id raised my son there.
JamesRich 01-11-2004, 11:43 AM I don't think its too bad. The flats have just about been knocked down and there are plans to build a new housing estate on the land in there place. Might be a good time to buy.
Illaria 07-11-2004, 11:47 AM Was up there yesterday havin me hair done and it looks cold and desolate, id never want to live there agian. I always remember it being windy cos your up on the hill and the snow is always shocking. I used to live on the flats that are still up near edgewell cresent, all the ones further down the avenue have gone thank god. They used to scare me as a child cos 99.9% of the people who lived on them were as rough as they come.
Danielle 09-11-2004, 12:14 PM Thank you for all your comments. Where i'm looking to buy, its really close to Halifax road, not near the flats at all really. The house I was looking at has been bought so i'm still looking. I'd love to buy in Grenoside but cant afford it as i'm buying on my own so only have about £75,000 to spend. Any other recomendations would be much appreciated. I ideally want to buy in north sheffield.
Thanks.
Sarah123 12-01-2005, 03:37 PM People say the foxhill area is bad that is only because you are there for about half an hour or just passing through. I haven't lived up there but have family that do and have hung around up there for the last 6 years of my life, i have very close friends that live there too and they would not move for anything. I hang around on the top part of foxhill mainly but we do go all over, we keep our selves too our selves and only bring trouble when people get involved in what we are doing. If you know everyone up there you will have no trouble but if you complain and shout at us then we do abuse back it's just like teenagers in any other area. Once you get to know people up there you won't want to leave.
Every area has it's good and bad points, foxhill is just the same.
oldtimer 13-01-2005, 08:16 AM The top of Browning Road (#97) across from Bullen Road was good 45 years ago!!
sillince 20-01-2005, 11:27 PM absolute s@@thole luv, if i were i'de keep looking
Kristian 20-01-2005, 11:31 PM One of my friends lived on Browning Road a few years ago. She never had any bother, but there again her family were well known in the area.
I did get my car broken into once though while it was outside her house. Guess that could happen anywhere though!

ZIPPYZ 24-01-2005, 05:17 PM Hello.
I lived here for 3 years before moving out a year ago. I never had any trouble at all. I lived on browning Road. I never saw any gangs roaming the streets or any trouble. I think if you live near the flats then thats where the trouble is. At the halifax Road end though its fine. I'd say about 70% of the houses that end are private now. I really dont think you'll have any bother at all. We were never burgled, the car was never broke into, and all the neighbours were fine. Its a great place to get your foot on the property ladder.
i live on wolfe rd its ok do you wanna buy our house £70000 new kithen new bathroom its sound
troutbasher 08-02-2005, 09:09 PM Have you tried looking further down foxhill . Round birley carr area it,s only 2 minutes walk from browning.Round lyminster or parson cross rd.they are mostly terraced and semi,s but some may a little out of you,re price range but hey,at the moment it,s a buyers market, don,t be afraid to put in offers below the asking price all they can do is say no!!!!!!!
bigrbuk 06-03-2006, 03:57 PM I've been living on Browning Rd for 2 years now - it was my first step on the property ladder like yourself.
We've never had any bother since we've been there, the orders preventing gangs from hanging around may have made a difference, although I never really saw any anyway.
The area is currently undergoing massive investment, hopefully this will add value to non-council owned properties (Browning Rd is made up of approx 60-70% privately owned now).
I think its perfect for the first time buyer - let's be honest, we have to make sacrifices to get on the ladder, but so far, the only thing I've had to endure is a dent on my car, and thats not area related I'm sure!
