Hi,

I hope you can help me, I have an allotment at Hagg House and I am looking at putting some fencing around the beds to keep out the rabbits.

I was thinking about making some simple chicken wire fencing sunk into the ground about 6 inches, but I would like to know - what height should they be? am I looking a 1½ feet high? or 1 metre high or prison fencing with electic gates and spotting towers and barb wire?

Any advice will be greatfully received.

Cheers

Aardvark.

hey well I had a rabbit - and my dad made a run for him - that was about 2ft high so Id suggest 3-4ft just to be on the safe side

as for spotting tower and barb wire - go for it!

Cheers little-face,

I have bought some chicken wire that will allow me to put in a fence that is about ½meter high (with 6 inch underground) which I think will be high enough.

For those that are interested - Wickes are currently selling their chicken wire at half price (10m x 600mm @ 4.99 & 10m x 900mm at 7.99).

Cheers again.

Interested to see how you get on as I would like to do something similar. I've taken over plots 47-50 with some friends and wandering through (think jungle!) I startled quite a few rabbits.
