Short of actually glowing in the dark, I don't think this (http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/copy_of_Opal__Neon_4ply_sock_yarn.html) yarn could get much brighter :wow: . The name is certainly appropriate.

View Full Version : Eyeball-searing sock yarn. Hecate 16-02-2007, 21:14 Short of actually glowing in the dark, I don't think this (http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/copy_of_Opal__Neon_4ply_sock_yarn.html) yarn could get much brighter :wow: . The name is certainly appropriate. gempud 16-02-2007, 21:28 I saw that yesterday and thought it was hmmm 'interesting'. I would love to see it in the flesh to see exactly how neon it is! JillM 16-02-2007, 21:38 It's not really too neon. I have all the colours so I can speak with authority!! littlemissy 16-02-2007, 21:46 I think it looks gorgeous, tbh :D turra21 16-02-2007, 22:43 :D I've a ball of 1932 winging it's way to me as we speak:D Sorry Jill it wasn't from you. Hecate 16-02-2007, 22:49 Nope, sorry, looked at it again on a different monitor. The change of settings did nothing to dissuade me that the colours wouldn't set off an unholy combination of migraine and epilepsy :hihi: . Wool4brains 16-02-2007, 23:37 I like bright socks, you get to knit colours that you wouldn't dare wear in a sweater. Glow in the dark would be better though.... gempud 17-02-2007, 10:04 Ooooh now that's an idea. I want glow in the dark sock yarn! Shine 17-02-2007, 10:10 Oooh, fabby :D Lucy-Lastic 17-02-2007, 10:18 I quite like the look of 1931 though... Becky B 17-02-2007, 11:44 Oooh, I like it! When I finally get round to doing something for myself, I think I might get some of that! I fancy a pair of gloves... Hecate 17-02-2007, 12:35 ::wanders away muttering about subtlety and dubious colour combinations:: :hihi: turra21 17-02-2007, 12:38 ::wanders away muttering about subtlety and dubious colour combinations:: :hihi: Careful Hecate - We are sounding grumpy:rolleyes: :hihi: Hecate 17-02-2007, 12:43 Careful Hecate - We are sounding grumpy:rolleyes: :hihi: Don't make me get that delete button out... :P . No, The Neon yarn is truly interesting and special. At least you'd be able to find the socks in the dark  . turra21 17-02-2007, 14:22 Once I've used mine I'll post a piccie and see if it's as bad as you think it might be, they are for dd2 so the brighter the better. At least someone will like them. Wheezy 17-02-2007, 14:41 Don't make me get that delete button out... :P . No, The Neon yarn is truly interesting and special. At least you'd be able to find the socks in the dark  . Go on, get the debate button out  JillM 17-02-2007, 18:26 Nope, sorry, looked at it again on a different monitor. The change of settings did nothing to dissuade me that the colours wouldn't set off an unholy combination of migraine and epilepsy :hihi: . I don't believe anything is as vivid as Colinette's firecracker yarn n the brilliant pink shade (using the term loosely...) of Rio. I actually hide it behind the pattern books.... when it first arrived I had just had a migraine and I couldn't unpack it for 3 days as each time I glanced at it my left temple began throbbing again :) The Neon sock yarn looks almost dull in comparison :hihi: knitbird 18-02-2007, 17:32 Socks are about the only way you can knit with a huge palette of colour and end up with something you might actually wear everyday. (Unless you are Kaffe Fassett) I like the fact that you can have secretly crazy coloured socks that no one can see. Like wearing nice underwear, it makes you feel happy, even if nobody sees it.:P gempud 18-02-2007, 18:56 Like wearing nice underwear, it makes you feel happy, even if nobody sees it.:P I must admit when I know I am going to have a tough day at work I wear one of the pair of socks I have made and it makes me feel much better. I take great pleasure in wearing a pair that clash with whatever I am wearing on the outside and knowing no one can see! :) littleblue 21-02-2007, 21:51 I saw the yarn today. Wasn't what I'd call eye searing...In fact I didn't realise it was that particular yarn until it was pointed out. I loved it! Think I might have to make socks now! |
