Can anyone recommend a good value for money place to buy a gents leather coat please? Nothing too trendy just a nice, black, short leather jacket.

Thanks

[pet hate] He wears a cloth coat not a sodding leather one![/pet hate]

Sorry for the outburst, I guess you can tell that i get that a lot (i own a big leather coat). Every day it some smart-alec shouting *Oi! Neo!*

Morons...

Not you, just the ones who think it is a good idea to try and be clever on the street

there about £300 for a neo style coat, can't remember where i saw them for sale though.
Difficult to pull off, with the tight top and flared lower half.

Leather jackets, worth checking out catalogue seconds stores as people often return a £100 jacket with something like the zip not working on the inside pocket, got one like that myself a few years ago for half price, zip still doesn't work though.

you have to be so very careful, when buying long-style leather coats.

It is such a fine line between looking like Neo, and looking like Herr Flick!

Well he's not looking for a long one. He's middle aged and middle of the road so just a short one will do lol!!

There used to be a place in Meadowhall, I don't know if it's still there, that sold only leather jackets.

I believe there's a second-hand shop in Brussels that does a fine range of Euro-style leather outerware. Perhaps sir would like the soft-edged tan suede zipper, ideal for those autumn days when a jumper slung casually over the shoulders simply isn't warm enough any more? It'll help bring out the gentle tawny notes in one's loafers and man-handbag.

Or maybe a harder-edged biker style of black leather coat would suit? Simply accessorise with a scarily clean Harley Davidson for a truly menopausal note.

If a trip to the doomy-dull Euro capital isn't your bag, try Marks & Sparks. Its shares maybe in freefall, but it does have a couple of actually rather nice shortish leather jobbies in its range. See:

Suit alors, as they (might perhaps but probably not) say on cold days at the European Parliament.

If you don't mind spending a bit, these guys can help with the Neo coat.

I second Freshmans I have a long black leather coat and a red and white biker style jacket bother were about 40-ish quid from Freshmans - and of course leather looks better when its been worn in a bit :)

I am also looking for a gents leather jacket. Where is Freshmans and do they have a decent range of jackets?

Are there any other shops in Sheffield that sell decent leather jackets, all I have seen is a couple in TK Max in town but no real selection.

Details for Freshmans is here (http://www.yell.com/ucs/UcsSearchAction.do;jsessionid=cfnrJJO-S-Q7?searchType=classic&ooa=on&keywords=&companyName=freshmans&location=sheffield&x=0&y=0).

They are a second hand clothing shop (but a big and well stocked one!) so you can never be sure exactly what they will have in - but trawling for gems is half the fun!

Bought mine from Cole Brothers (or whatever name they go by today) who have a good range.

I paid £250 but it's money well spent. IMO cheap leather jackets look just that: cheap.

Naff thing to say really, but have you looked on QVC (http://www.qvcuk.com) ?

Some of their jackets are unisex and strike me as fairly good value- although I've never bought clothes off them, only toys for kids' chrissie presents and the like.

Or you could try having a look on Ebay?

I bought a lovely leather jacket off there last year, after giving up hope of finding what I wanted in Sheffield.

I miss Flip :( Got some great stuff in there.

Don't know if it's still there but there used to be a stall in Crystal Peaks market that sold the leather Neo type coats for about 120 quid.
