I am starting full-time work this summer after spending many years at home in the daytime with my 8-year old boxer dog.

She will still receive many walks and much love, but I need someone to let her out for a wee at lunchtimes, and give her a bit of a fuss.

I suppose this would suit a retired/older person, who might enjoy some time with a pooch.

Does anyone know of someone suitable, who lives in the hillborough area?

Thanks

Hi Bunnyhop, welcome to Sheffield Forum.

Have you considered using a professional dog walking or dog day care service?

There are a few in Sheffield, a couple of whom post regularly here in the pets group.

Our dog goes to stay for the occasional weekend with a woman who also does dog daycare (The Doghouse at netheredge), and he is alway happy, tired and well looked after when we pick him up.

Im sure someone will be along with links soon

The woman The Chocador stays with charges £15 per day, I think most dog walkers are around £7 per hour, but I'm sure pet walkiz will be along soon to put us right.

Hi bunnyhop, would you be able to drop the dog off at someone's house and pick it up again?

I ask because there are many people who would love to have a dog but can't for whatever reason and would love to have the dog during the day but may not be able to get to your house.

Would you like me to edit your title to include 'possible dog share' to make it easier for interested people to see?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I have seen the professional care services available, but it just seems a very organised way of doing things (and expensive), when a friendly local person may be more ideal. The 'dog share' idea sounds good in principle but in practice wont always be easy with my working hours etc. I feel kind of uneasy about 'sharing' my pooch!
