Hi,

I am on the lookout, I think, for an architect. Basically I moved a month ago today into a 4 bed house in Crosspool which over the years has suffered at the hands of people who loved wood pannelling and mirrors everywhere, not to mention the fetching pink kitchen.

While I started out thinking I was going to organise the work myself, it has spiralled out of control in my head before any of it has got started.

I've phoned around a few places but everyone is too busy or doesn't do domestic projects any more. The work would consist of some building work -
knocking through bedroom to create en suite, bricking up garage door and inserting a window, putting decking in garden led down from new French doors in kitchen where currently there are windows and inserting a downstairs toilet, plus refurbishing the existing communal areas so that the bedrooms and bathrooms and office is more up to date.

I started with an interior designer but he then reccommended I look for architects after deciding he was too busy. I have about £60k to spend on the project, but noone seems to want to help. I'm pretty clueless about this whole thing and in my naivety thought it'd be easy to find someone, for a good fee, to overlook the project.

Can anyone help or reccommend someone who can? I'm looking for a full service, someone to manage the thing from start to finish. Help!!

Thanks.

Try giving Steve at Wilson Property Maintenance and building services a call on 07901963684, he should be able to organise and carry out the full project for you. I would highly recommend him.

Hi there,

Had a complete loft converstion done by a company called Advantage Projects. They took care of everything including architects drawings for planning permission. They also did a smaller job of knocking out my downstairs toilet and coal house so that I had a larger kitchen. I only ever use companies that have been recommended (especially on a big job otherwise you never know what your going to end up with) and these guys were recommended by a neighbour, they are also members of the guild of master builders or something like that.

They turned up when they said they would, were polite and always cleaned up after themselves (as you can guess with loft converstion and chimney removal there is a great deal of mess). They quoted me a good price which was the price I paid when the job was finished. The guy who did the jobs was called Adrian and his number is 0114 2013472 or 0791 7194244

Good luck with the work.

Linn

P.S Your lucky you only had a fetching pink kitchen when you moved in I had two fetching pink bedrooms, a bathroom and stairs (think the previous owners must have bulk bought on paint).
