Hi,

I have several well established clemaits in my garden and i know several varieties need cutting back but i don't know which ones of mine need cutting and which need leaving. When do i cut the ones that need doing back?

I have:
A large headed pink clematis
A large headed deep purple clematis
A small headed deep purple clematis

I think the main pointer is when do they flower - can you remember?

Ok - so when do they flower and what size are the flowers. If they are spring flowering then don't cut them now. If you can find me more info on when they flower and what size the flowers are (2in or 6in?) then might be able to help more.

Large summer flowering Clematis should be cut back now. Smaller spring ones don't cut back until they have flowered - otherwise you'll lose this year's flowers!
