View Full Version : Favourite Songs From Limit, Rebels, Leadmill Needed
Jozafeen 15-02-2007, 09:54 Team Batfink have ended Everfink goth night at the Dove & Rainbow (1st & 3rd Wednesdays every month) and, us DJs being veterans of the legendary alternative and rock nights of Sheffield, have come up with the idea of 'Dead Nightclub Night'.
We'll be having a bash at reviving the playlists of The Limit, Rebels, Roxy's Rock Night and the old days of La Videotheque at the Leadmill.
So lovely people - what are the songs that take you right back to those days?
For me, I can't hear the opening bars of either The Smiths 'How Soon Is Now' or Killing Joke's 'Love Like Blood' without being whisked straight back to the queue outside The Limit!

Jozafeen 15-02-2007, 18:11 Cheers Till Man - I can remember all the tunes from Psychomania on Thursdays at Rebs and one of our DJs (Mad Dog) used to DJ that night anyhow. I just don't remember the weekends, largely due to doing the Yorkshireman/ Sportsman/ Foresters/ Mailcoach run beforehand! :)

Does anyone have any pics of Rebels, either internal or external ?
You need to visit Rock reunited (http://www.rockreunited.co.uk/), it covers Rebels, the Wap, the Kay Gee Bee, the Limit and other places of that ilk...

Cruisers Creek is still one of my favourite tunes and it always reminds me of the Leadmill and, in particular, the little cafe in the corner and Archie's brilliant veggie chilli.
The Cult song I associate with The Limit is 'Spiritwalker' - 'Sanctuary' is more Roxys - sick of hearing it now! :hihi:

Nellie the elephant

But after a night on the red stripe that was really really good ;) :hihi:
WallBuilder 19-02-2007, 16:57 Which one?
I always liked Freebird as well to get the blood pumping and could never understand the enjoyment a lot of lasses who used to crowd on to the dance floor when certain American rock? tracks were played and their idea of dancing/head=banging/freaking out was to stand lifting alternate heels about half an inch off the floor and the really wild ones swinging their arms slightly.
Might explain why I like or prefer Status Quo tracks [any of them] to Americanised rock.
fox20thc 19-02-2007, 16:59 I too still like freebird, but I think I was referring to the 'everyone is drunk now I can get away with playing crap track' Nellie the elephant. :hihi:

We went with 'Good Taste' and 'Human Fly' in the end - both Limit classics! We were also a lot more Limit and Rebels than we intended but it seemed to go okay!
David Daft 22-02-2007, 04:46 This post has been "moderated" by David Daft.
David Daft no longer wishes his words to be associated with the Sheffield Forum. In an exclusive interview today, David stated "this is a knee jerk reaction to the Mods' ever-changing moods and the cove's chameleon-like rule book."
When asked if he would be sad to be leaving the Forum, David responded with "not really, there all bumders anyway!"
