I'd just like to pass on my condolences to the Reeve family.
One of my own acting hero's passed away yesterday after suffering a infection from a pressure wound causing him to slip into a coma and die of heart failure.
Christopher Reeve was paralysed almost 10 yrs ago when being thrown from a horse and breaking his neck in a freak accident.
Christopher Reeve was best known for his acting role in the Superman movies. He was a great actor and will be missed.
Full story can be read: here (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/film/3732310.stm).
That's really sad.
He was a very brave bloke and I was looking forward to the day when the technology would have allowed him to walk again.
Very sad indeed.

It's very sad, he was an inspiration to others in the way he campaigned about disability/ disability research etc.

It is very sad... I heard it on the radio this morning... I too was awaiting that day there would be news of Chris getting more feeling back within his body hoping too for that miracle of Chris being able to walk again...
Chris over the past 9 years came so far... considering he was prepared to give up the fight to live... But his family managed to pull him back ... Chris became a true fighter and even took that major step of acting again...
Its a sad loss... Superman will always be my Hero!
R.I.P
With you being 5 hours ahead of us in the States, i get to know whats happening in the news before most people get up, i read about Chris Reeves in this Forum, then saw it on CNN two hours later, was quite a shock.
Christoper Reeve was a pioneer of Stem Cell research & it is sad that this great man has passed away without seeing the results of the tests being done,in the USA it is illegal which I find astonishing, when there are so many that need help.I wrote to the Daily Mirror a few years ago supporting the Stem Cell work that Christopher was so passionate about.I hope his funding & charity work in this field continues in the name of Christoper Reeve a truly Super Man.RIP.
Christopher Reeve died suddenly at 5:30 p.m. yesterday of heart failure. He was 52 years old.
On Saturday October 9, Reeve fell into a coma after going into cardiac arrest while at home. Reeve was being treated for a pressure wound that he developed, a common complication for people living with paralysis. In the past week, the wound had become severely infected, resulting in a serious systemic infection.
Reeve was admitted to Northern Westchester Hospital on Saturday evening and never regained consciousness. His family was at his side at the time of death.
Dana Reeve, Christopher's wife, issued this statement:
"On behalf of my entire family, I want to thank Northern Westchester Hospital for the excellent care they provided to my husband. I also want to thank his personal staff of nurses and aides, as well as the millions of fans from around the world who have supported and loved my husband over the years."
"The family asks that you respect their privacy at this very difficult time, "said Wesley Combs, publicist for Mr. Reeve.
Reeve is survived by his mother Barbara Johnson and his father Franklin Reeve, his brother Benjamin Reeve, his wife Dana, their twelve year old son Will and his two children from a former relationship, Matthew (25) and Alexandra (21).
I always wanted to be Superman as a young kid growing up, had Superman wallpaper, curtains, bedspread, Superman suit (made by mum) and underpants too.
The face of Superman will always be Christopher Reeve to me and it's really sad that he never quite realised his dream to walk again but all credit to him for all the hard work he put in for disability research since his accident.
R.I.P. Christopher Reeve. Still my hero. :)
I also loved the Superman films (well, the first two anyway) and thought that he portrayed Clark Kent in an amusing, yet innocent way. When I saw him in an episode of Smallville, I hoped he was on the road to recovery. Alas it was not to be.
RIP Christopher
Another good soul departed.
