Welcome to the group, sheelagh  . Are you a knitter, or just browsing?

Because the thread titles should relate to the (knitting) content. Forummers then have an idea about what the thread is about before venturing in to it. As it was, the thread looked like it belonged more in the 'Intros and Celebrations' section, than in the Knitting group.

I thought it was fine as it was.

Changing thread titles to something more informative re. the contents of thread is standard SF practice. It isn't up for debate on here.
If you have a problem with the reason why the thread title was changed, please contact the help desk to discuss it with them.

Group Leader, thank you for informing me that the changing of people's thread titles is of standard SF practice, I am sure I will find this very useful for future reference.
I thought that since I knew I was on the knitting forum, and assuming all the onlookers were intelegent enough to know that they were on the knitting forum, the subject was bound to be about something knitting. Even if it wasn't regarding knitting, is it so awful to wish the knitting forum a Happy St. Valentine's Day? I thought we were all a pretty friendly bunch and a bit of banter here and there isn't hurting anyone is it?

All threads appear on the forum's 'view new posts' list. At first glance, a title such as 'Happy St valentine's Day' has nothing to do with knitting. As such, some people who have no interest in knitting, or posting on the knitting group, often end up posting in the thread and then, realising where they've posted, ask 'should this really be in the knitting group?' I know this, because it's happened before.
Wheezy, as I said in my previous post, I changed the title in accordance with the SF policy of keeping thread titles relevant to the thread content and - in the case of the groups - relevant to the group itself. I've done it several times before, and I'll continue to do so. If you wish to discuss this SF policy with the SF admin, then please use the 'Contact Us' link. They'll be more than happy to answer you questions :) .
And with that, I'll close the thread.
